Writing Date

Come, bring your writing projects and be productive! Bring your laptop or writing utensils and take some time out to create. We will spend a few minutes chatting about writing, then focus on our writing projects in a supportive, helpful atmosphere. I will also bring a writing prompt for those of you who would like to start something new.

This meetup is open to all members, so if you have never attended a MNW:H event and want to attend our workshops, this is the place to start. I and other regular members will be happy to answer any questions you might have about our group.

New members are welcome to attend any Writing Date. The next one hasn't been announced yet, but lately we've had at least one per month. Keep checking and hope to see you soon.

Hey guys, so I've misplaced the paper with the names on it of people who were interested in joining the critique group. If you came to the writing date and expressed interest, please respond here or send me a message with your email and I'll get your names to Jen.

    Thanks!
    Heather

I just asked the event producer if she would give a special price and she's agreed! $125 for Houston writers. Just let me know if you're interested!

It was wonderful. I got to see the writing of two new people, and four people--Heather and Barnes and two new folks--were extremely kind in looking at some of my work and writing comments on it. I am so thankful! I did not write down the names of everyone who came. Please forgive me for not naming anyone else. I also saw others discussing each others' work and other interesting information. What a SUPER meetup!!!

Do you meet every Monday? I notice your next meeting is a Sunday.
21st October is my Husbands birthday so I may not be able to attend when is the next meeting after that?

Don't make copies for me. I am a single parent, teacher and athlete. If I even manage to make it to the writing date (which is tough for me to do during the school year), I want to focus on the rare time I have to write and on getting to know people outside of my regular routine. If other people want to critique during the writing date, great. I just don't have the time to do that now.

It doesn't sound as if you can meet to talk, then. Maybe later? Didn't we exchange emails before your trip?

OK I will bring 19 1/3 pages. But which ones? Do people want to see the first episodes or the more recent episodes? The first is all about Rahevet and the terrible war and the Sacred Marriage. It's sexy. Then about the Havi's coming of age. It's sadistic. Both are sad. There are other chapters, not yet written, in which the situation gets worse and worse....but first I'd like to know whether the revisions to the first few chapters have been successfully revised. So which should I bring? Or should I bring one set for some folks and the other set for others?

What you bring is up to you, whichever you want feedback on more. I wouldn't bring more than 2-3 copies total since the primary goal of this meet-up isn't to read other's work, you'll just have to see if anyone is interested in reading it for you other than myself :) And if you don't get enough feedback, bring it to critique!

Hi Louis, no this is a meeting for general discussion and working on our own projects. However, if you would like to bring a short piece (less than 20 pgs double space) you can ask people if they are willing to read it for you.

I don't have directions to the meet up. If someone could please give them to me.
