FANGORIA will host a free screening of the new ’80s-style horror film ALMOST HUMAN on Wednesday, February 26 at 9 p.m. at New York City’s IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue at 3rd Street;[masked]). Written and directed by Stuart Gordon protégé Joe Begos, ALMOST HUMAN stars newcomers Graham Skipper, Josh Ethier and Vanessa Leigh. The film debuted at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival. Begos and Ethier will host ALMOST HUMAN’s Big Apple premiere.

ALMOST HUMAN’s official synopsis reads: “A quiet night on the outskirts of a small town in Maine is interrupted when Seth (Skipper) witnesses his best friend Mark (Ethier) vanish in a brilliant flash of blue light. Two years later, Seth is still dealing with the fallout from the freaky incident, amid local suspicion that he is to blame for his friend’s disappearance. When a string of grisly murders disrupts the community, Seth believes Mark has returned. Together with Mark’s ex-girlfriend Jen (Vanessa Leigh), he races to find out if their friend is responsible—or if something beyond their understanding is unfolding before them.”

The Fango screening of ALMOST HUMAN will be a free show; to obtain tickets, send an e-mail to [masked]. You must list “ALMOST HUMAN” as your subject line. Offer is good for you and one guest. Here’s what genre critics say about ALMOST HUMAN:

“A gory throwback that really hits its marks.”—The Wolfman, Bloody Disgusting

“[ALMOST HUMAN] perfectly captures the feel of another decade. This is an ’80s horror flick through and through, so well done that you might be able to convince someone that it’s from the period.”—Alex Riviello, Badass Digest

“Scrappy, super-violent, and consistently amusing…certainly a short, sharp shock of indie-style scares and splatter, but here’s what impresses me the most about the flick: it virtually reeks of love for the finest in 1980s horror cinema.”—Scott Weinberg, FEARnet

Tony Timpone of Fangoria has said that the director and star will be there for a q&a.

PLEASE Only RSVP if you are on the guest list. IT would b e nice for us all to come in together.

everyone is free to do what they want and show up whenever they want, if you get in...you get in....if not, oh well. That said, if you check in with me while on line, I will do my best to save you a seat, but you can't cut the line and join me and whoever else is already on the line. I have never liked it when people did that to me and out of respect for those on the line, I won't let people cut.

Steve I didn't see your last comment about the line until after I sent my text. Since I'm coming from a distance I'll try to check with you before I come & stand on line.

You said it, Sheila! Anyone going should surely arrive early and dress warm-- if they want a good spot on the line and a better chance of getting in.

I got the e-mail back for this and the other so my name is on the list. I suspect we have to get there somewhat early. Since I don't have anyone to bring someone else in the group can have my guest ticket.

If any of you saw the musical version of Re-Animator, Graham Skipper played Dr. Herbert West
