Montana Programmers Missoula Meetup

Hey all, it's official!

Back by overwhelming popular demand.. Montana Programmers Missoula Meetup!

A HUGE/SPECIAL shout out to Ruby's (and of course Phyllis Erck) for offering a room for us to meet. We will have a presentation on MySQL GUI tools for effective database development that will approx. 1 hour and the rest of the time will be discussions, questions/answers, and suggestions for next month's meetup.

Directions to Ruby's (for those who have had a major concussion in the last 24 hours - or have never stepped foot in Montana):
http://maps.google.co...

It's going to be awesome - there are lots of new members - I'm excited to meet you all!

To follow along and build a database with me using the tools... you may want to download Workbench and GUI Tools prior to the meetings (same for Missoula Meetup folks).

... AND maybe try to actually run it before you get there (*pokes Ashton) heh heh....

You can get MySQL Workbench here:
Windoze: http://dev.mysql.com/...
Mac/Linux: http://dev.mysql.com/...

and the MySQL GUI tools here:
http://dev.mysql.com/...

Of course all this assumes you have a working installation of MySQL server on your laptop. If not the server can be found here:
http://dev.mysql.com/...

That way you will be able to follow along with the presentation (if you so desire).

THANKS!

Ian

Well-done presentation by Ian on databases and using MySQL GUI tools. Very nice meeting space courtesy of Ruby's Inn and Phyllis Erck. I enjoyed the opportunity to meet other tech people with a wide variety of interests who were eager to connect and share.

Ian did a great job with the presentation. An excellent job actually. The faclities (Ruby's) were magnificent (wink). My first experience networking with other like-minded developers in Montana brought me some pleasant surprises. Was surprised to find an old professor from the U CS dept sitting next to me (25 years later0. I met someone with several years of Drupal development experience and who actually met the entire Ubercart dev team, both are tools I just started working with. I was very entertained by the demo of Ian's fun proprietary CMS tool and his overall enthusiasm for technology and for networking with others. Was also pleasantly surprised to meet 2 other skiers. I don't know that I've ever been in a room with so many people with the same type of disparte interests as me. Usually, you don't find folks who like back-country skiing and coding to be into socializing and networking. Can't wait to see where everyones projects go.

Good times. Thanks Ian! The drive back went well. I only saw about 16 thousand deer and antelope. None of them jumped in front of me. :)
