Pecha Kucha Tech Night

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • While at the Agile 2011 conference in Salt Lake City this month of August - I was charmed by the fun and the informality of the Pecha Kucha format for tech talks. They held one each day and there were several presentations using this format. It's similar to Ignite - but much less formal and staged. The presenters simply hooked up their laptops with their presentation of 20 slides with 20 seconds each running on automatic. So it's a little longer than the ignite format. Anyone want to try this?

I've got an idea for something and would love to present. Let's pick a date.

This sounds like fun. I'd present on something.

The 20 slides 20 seconds each format keeps the presentations lively. They have a submission and selection process for Ignite! Missoula, but I hoped for something less formal like I saw at Agile 2011. The key to a successful pechakucha tech night will be that people present about something they love.

    Of course, depends upon when.

Interesting... I want to read more about it (almost sounds like a 5-7 minute Toastmasters speech). Would be cool to do that like we did with the mobile dev - take a topic and line up 4 - 5 presenters in this format - all on different aspects of the given topic.. ?
