The Montana Space Grant Consortium here at MSU in Bozeman is putting together a grant to help our state’s 12 community colleges get going with programming. What they are looking for is mentors that would be able to help kids an hour or two a week starting next year.

Here is a rough break down of the schedule.

Jan – Feb. 2 hours twice a month. This would be a two hour meeting with the other mentors and kids.

Mar – Apr. One more 2 hour group meeting then a few one hour meetings with your student to work on coding at code.org

May Nothing this month as kids are working on finals.

June The kids will have an intensive three week workshop at a community college near Polson. If a mentor would like to present during this time via a video link or in person they are welcome to but there is no requirement to do so.

Late June The kids will be back from their intensive workshop and ready to get going on a project. For the next 7 weeks they will need an hour or two a week from their mentor to be successful with their project.

If you would be interested in pitching in to help our community colleges jump into programming please reply to this post or ping me at pippin dot wallace at oracle dot com

What age kids are we talking about? Also, I'm based in Missoula, will you be needing any mentors there?
