We're THE premier Montclair Running Group! (At least as far as I know, and the only one too!)
We're looking for Dumfries/Triangle/Woodbridge/Montclair/Quantico area runners to join a running community to do road (Montclair) and trail runs (PWFP) in the Montclair area.
Beginners are be welcome - I like lower paced (11min/mi) runs.
Shoe shopping trips will be accommodated!
Faster paced runners are be welcome too, especially for their experience.
We are non-competitive - we don't track anyone's time. You run you own pace, and even run- walk if necessary.
Primary non-running meetup location is "Winestyles" off Waterway.
Primarily, we are a running support group. Eventually, we may put together groups to go to races, anything from 5k to marathons and longer.
I have run up to marathon distances (OK, disclaimer: I have only complete 2 marathon distance runs, one of which was the Marine Corps Marathon last year). I may also try for some clinics - I have completed a Chi Running clinic with a local instructor as well as a week-long course with Danny Dryer.
Join us, let me know your interest, and come run.
(Even if you don't currently run...)
FAQ (or what I imagine would be frequently asked questions, though in reality I don't get many!)
What Does it cost?
Free! (To you. It cost me $15 per month to run this group on meetup. If that makes you feel guilty for some reason, feel free to buy me wine at our monthly non-running meetup.)
When do you run? How far?
We have 2 scheduled runs a week - a Tuesday night 3 miler starting at Dolphin Beach and a Saturday morning 5 miler starting at Dairy Queen.
Do you run early the morning?
God no. We did move our Saturday morning run to 7 am to avoid the summer heat. But we'll move it back to 8 am when it cools off...
How fast do you run?
Great question - thanks for asking! We have runners that range from 7 - 12 minute miles. We re-group during the runs, so no one gets left behind.
(Personally, I average 9:30 - 10 minute miles on the 3 miles and ~11 -11:30 on the 5 milers (the park is hilly!))
In general, I usually hang with the slowest runner or turn around frequently and come back to keep them company. We do not drop runners during our runs!
Do you run on road or off?
Do you do races?
So far, only one: the Rockville Twilighter in July. But it was considered a rousing success by everyone who participated and we look forward to more.
Do you run other than the 2 times a week?
Of course - we all do, but not as a group. I usually only run one other time (Tuesday night). But our members are free to schedule runs with each other as they like. (Like I could stop them.)
I can't make either of the scheduled runtimes - Can we schedule a group run on (M/T/W/T/F/S/S) (morning/night) at HH:MM (pm/am)?
Sure - just get enough group members together and go for it!
Are you training for anything?
Not as a group. But several of our members are training for the Marine Corp or other marathons.
What if I have other questions you didn't already answer?
Uhh, e-mail me? I promise not to publicly berate you, and will probably add the question to the FAQ.
