Composting. It's becoming MUCH easier to do. Come hear why.

Our meeting this month will be focusing on composting and we will be hearing from the co-founders of The Compost Crew, and others about composting.

From DIY to curb-side pick-up.

Come learn how easy it can be for you to begin creating rich soil from your own kitchen scraps and yard clippings… and stop sending valuable food scraps to the landfill!

And, as always… please feel free to bring along your friends and neighbors!

Hope to see you on April 8th!!

Cheers,

Naomi

    Hi Everyone!

Our composting meeting was a real success! We heard from the founders of the Compost Crew, Brian Flores and Ryan Walter about their business; the reason they started it, how this service is, and can further expand.
I hope that you will check them out:
http://compostcrew.com We also had the pleasure of welcoming Michelle DeVillo, from the county's Department of Waste Management. Michelle told us about what the county composts and how they can/do offer free support to county residents to learn how to compost, via classes and very good hand-outs. Of course the county also picks up yard waste at the curb.

Though the county does not yet allow for the composting of food waste, Michelle did update us on the efforts being made to move toward widening this program via public policy legislation. Something we will keep and eye on and support.

For more information on the county programs: www.montgomerycountymd.gov Check it out!

    Happy Composting… Happy Spring!

Please come and let us know if you compost and share some of your tips and… if you aren't composting, hopefully after our meeting, you'll feel more confident in getting started! We are here to help each other learn how to be more sustainable in our own individual lives. No judgement… just friends helping friends! :-)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
