Tell us a little about yourself

I am currently working on my Master's degree in Philosophy of Religion focusing on a comparison between religion and science. Specifically, I would like to compare religion and scientism from epistemological grounds in an attempt to show that scientism (NOT science proper) is full of just as much myth, deification, and revelation as any religion. As a profession, I work in Information Technology managing a team of people who do data storage.

How did you become interested in philosophy?

Honestly, in my Bachelor's program (in Music Education) I took Philosophy courses in an attempt to satisfy my Humanities requirements without having to take mathematics or foreign language! It turns out I really loved Philosophy!

What topics interest you the most?

Epistemology, soteriology, value systems, morality, etc.

Can you summarize your philosophical outlook in 50 words or less?

Ummmm.... No. :)

Your favorite book?

M. Hiriyanna's "Indian Philosophy", I suppose. But really any book that engages my mind is enjoyable.

Introduction

I love to have discussions that relate to things other than the banal chit-chat with coworkers about their kids, their cars, and how fancy their homes are. I want to discuss the nature of the universe, what is the Self, what is our purpose?!
