HAVA NAGILA (the movie) Saturday Night May 4th late show

Join us to see a happy movie http://www.havanagila... Verify the schedual http://www.cinemadupa... It is instantly recognizable - musical shorthand for anything Jewish, a happy party tune that you dance to at weddings, bar mitzvahs and even at Major League Baseball games. It conjures up wistful smiles, memories of generations past...and no shortage of eye rolling. But as audiences will discover in Hava Nagila (The Movie), the song is much more than a tale of Jewish kitsch and bad bar mitzvah fashions. It carries with it an entire constellation of history, values and hopes for the future. In its own believe-it-or-not way, Hava Nagila encapsulates the Jewish journey over the past 150 years. It also reveals the power of one song to express and sustain identity, to transmit lessons across generations and to bridge cultural divides and connect us all on a universal level. Featuring interviews with Harry Belafonte, Connie Francis, Glen Campbell, Leonard Nimoy, Regina Spektor and more, Hava Nagila (The Movie) follows the song from the shtetls of Eastern Europe to the kibbutzim of Palestine to the cul-de-sacs of America. It excavates the layers of cultural complexity with humor, depth and heart – traveling the distance between the Holocaust to Dick Dale and his surf guitar, sometimes in the same sentence. It stops at key places – Ukraine, Israel, the Catskills and Greenwich Village, where Belafonte performed a hopeful version in the late 1950s, only to be countered by Bob Dylan, who butchers the song in his version Talkin’ Hava Negiliah Blues. “One of those rare, crowd-pleasing documentaries that compels you to tap your toes and leaves you with a great big smile on your face from ear to ear upon exiting the theater.” -AVI OFFER, NYC MOVIE GURU “Grossman finds lively, often passionate and funny interpreters - among them rabbis, historians, musicologists and klezmer musicians - to guide us through the song's many transformations.” -ELLA TAYLOR, NPR “Fun and illuminating...The movie as well as the song serve as fitting, entertaining testaments to the resilience of the Jewish people.” -FR. CHRIS CARPENTER, MOVIE DEAREST

According to Parc cinema website, Hava Nagila plays at 7.15pm everyday with from Saturday to Thursday with English subtitles
We should meet there earlier. 6:45pm would do?

I forgot, regular price is $11 if I'm not wrong. I have a cinecarte so I pay $6 per movie. If it's a festival I think it is $11, no discounts.

Hello! I am trying to find out if this group has an organizer- there is not much info: what time we meet, is there will be a discussion or some communication at all? Do we have a group price? So, let me know, please.

I suggest we meet in front of the stairs that go down to the cinema. There are some tables there where we can wait.

We should meet about 15min early, depending on how popular the movie will be. Is it part of a festival?

Just to present myself, I live close to this cinema and go there often. They show a lot of cool stuff. Better than a cinemateque. They often bring people to present the movies and have a Q&A afterwards.

    See you there.
