After three meetups with incredible attendance, it is time for us to leave Montreal and explore the beautiful natural scenery that Quebec has to offer.
Join me in exploring La Mauricie National Park in the Laurentian mountains, a 536-km2 Canadian National Park, at around 2 hours drive from Montreal. La Mauricie National Park’s landscape is one of myriads of hills, forests and watercourses. It is a huge area, but fortunately there is a road with several hiking possibilities and lookouts that makes its way through the southern section of the park. It will be a wonderful outdoors and photography experience!

The idea is to meet at 11:00 am at Shewenegan, a short drive from the Saint-Mathieu entrance. There are rest rooms and a snack-bar. It probably is a good idea for everyone to bring their own food supplies, since there seem to be no restaurants in the park. We will go back onto the road and explore the park, pulling off at viewing points and at a trail or two we would like to hike. Everyone is free to pursue their own interests, and I anticipate that the group will spread out over the course of the day. I have not been to this park before, so I do not know the best hikes or viewpoints. I will investigate further and make some suggestions in the next few days.
We leave the park after sunset and make our way back to Montreal. We can always visit Shawinigan for a well deserved dinner .
To save on gas, sharing your ride would be the best way to go. To those of you offering a ride, thank you, but please do so only if you are confident that you will be able to attend.
I will flesh this communication out more over the next few days but I thought I would announce this trip as soon as possible so that those who are interested have the time to plan ahead.
I hope to see you there!
