  • Aissam

    Bonjour Odette,

    October 18

  • Karyn P.

I think we have to let Saint Maarten go... How do you go on vacation to a resort, in the caribbean, and not go in the ocean? No swimming, No snorkling, We do not know how long the ban will last. There are a whole lot of other really nice places we can go.

    here is your tomato Carlo.....

    October 18

  • Odette

I do not know about you all but me I am going in vacation this week. As all of you, my first choice is St-Maarten and I am still working in this direction... But if we are to go there and not able to go in the water, (ocean), and can't be fully satisfied, I do not think it is the best option. If it is not in St - Maarten, it will be to a other very nice place and resort... If we decide to go for a other destination, everybody will have a refund and book again for the new place...

A friend of mine told me that her friend just came back from sonesta bay and the the hurricane which was not a direct hit, did damage the hotel. I have looked online , but got nowhere. Has anyone else heard or seen pictures?

    1 · October 18

  • Annie

Indeed! Thank you Odette for all the hard work and energy you put into finding us a new roof and patch of sand. I vote for the luxurious Riu too, as the island being very small, it looks like it's not complicated nor expensive to take taxis, buses (which are in fact collective taxis) or rent cars to go places, and doesn't take too much time either. Have a nice weekend everyone. Annie

    1 · October 18

  • Carlo B.

I will second Lise by saying, thank you Odette for everything you have done and doing for us.
This might be a stupid suggestion but could we maybe postpone the trip by a few weeks..... OK no one throw tomato's at me for that suggestion or any other vegetable or fruit.
Some have paid for upgrades such as Ocean View and from what I see the Riu only has views to the marina, garden or courtyard.

Lise, the hotel does not seem to have any shuttle services.

    1 · October 18

  • Lise

Just reading all the e-mails of today and I have to say thank you Odette you had a very busy day.
After reading previous travelers comment on the Riu I vote for the Riu.
As you said Odette, we are a big group we can always request more. We can get a shuttle to Phillipsburg. Also, because it is a 41/2 star and secluded they might have their own shuttles.
Odette, I am sure you will do everything to get us the best. And who needs Phillipsburg when we are 40+ happy travelers.
Have a nice week-end everybody we will know more on monday.
