Samhain Circle

Join us as we celebrate the turning of the Wheel of the Year.

Before the circle is cast, we will assemble an ancestor altar. You are welcome to bring a picture or memento of a passed loved one for the altar.

This year, we invite you to dress up for Samhain. Come in costume as your favorite animal, deity, spirit, fairy, etc.

During the Samhain ritual, you will follow Ishtar's path through the seven gates to the Underworld where you will receive a message to bring back with you.

A potluck dinner will follow circle.

Please bring with you to circle:
-A pillow or cushion to sit on.
-An athame if you have one.
-Something to decorate the altar with. Stones and candles are appropriate, as are seasonal decorations.
-A love offering is appreciated, but not required. Suggested love offering of $3-$5.
-A dish to pass at the potluck, and a beverage for yourself.

You may also bring a carved pumpkin to help decorate the circle.

We will begin gathering at 6pm, and doors will lock at 6:45pm.

The ritual itself was well-planned and thought out. As one who has done a lot of theater I appreciated the attention to detail as the group was taken to "another place." Very creative and complete.

Nico, others; would it be inappropriate to suggest on this list that we consider an informal get-together somewhere late on a weekday (for those who work reg hours) just because? To ease the disappointment for some of us? My restrictions are, not in south charlotte, and not during the day on weekends.

Dang, I may not be able to make it after all; had a flare-up of the pancreitis (its extremely painful for less than an hour, but then you are weak and at risk of another flare-up if you exert yourself for the next day). So I don't think I'll be feeling up to driving much of anywhere three hours from now.

Then we will be holding circle in our back yard or attending the circle at the UUCC :-( my children are 4 and 7 and have been raised in the ways of the Goddess. We hold circle for every full moon and high day. We were a part of Spiral Scouts in San Diego and are looking for a group here in Charlotte although it looks like I may be starting my own group. Let me know if you know of anyone who also has young children and would like to join us. We usually write our circles with the help of Starhawks circle round.

How old are your children? I prefer for attendees to be 18+, but I'm okay with kids coming if parents are with them. I don't think the Samhain circle would be appropriate for any kids younger than early teens.

I have never been to one of these. So what should I wear or expect? A little nervous about it, but want to learn more. Thanks

Sherry, it looks like three others of us are new as well, or new-ish. And if this group is like I've met before, they will be very easy to get a long with.

Hello! I've been looking at this group for awhile - guess it's time to join the fun! I've noticed (I think) in the past that some of the meetings have been primarily women - are some of the meetings organized that way? I would love my husband to be a part of the fun as well! :)

Unfortunately, with me getting off work at 5pm on the exact opposite side of Charlotte I don't think I can make it there by 6pm. Especially with living in Huntersville now.
