Breakfasts are really wonderful in India - every region has its own speciality. Kerala, land of coconut trees and paddy fields offers some fantastic dishes that can keep you going right through the day.
So let's meet at 10 30 and cook together "puttu" a steamed log of rice and ragi flour alternated with coconut shavings. This incredibly healthy dish is teamed with 'kadala' a spicy dark brown chickpea curry - cooked in the typical kerala style.
We'll also make "ishtoo" a stew of vegetables and coconut milk - a dish that is as delicious as it is simple - eaten with 'appams' lacy bowl shaped crepes made with fermented rice batter.
As always we cook and then eat together!
