We practice the Morning Quiet Time of the Oxford Groups, which was a Christian Fellowship that was immensely popular in the 1920's and 30's and provided the founding principles of Alcoholics Anonymous.
We use Oswald Chambers Devotional Book "My Utmost For His Highest" along with the Bible. Following the readings, we sit quietly for fifteen minutes, recording any thoughts or inspiration that come. We spend the rest of the hour sharing those thoughts and inspirations with each other. We do this practice in the belief that God can "speak" directly through each of us, if we let Him. His guidance is both practical and uplifting. As a group, our weekly practice encourages and challenges each member to put the received guidance into his or her daily life and follow the plan God reveals to us.
We meet as a small group and read from two sources, the devotional, "My Utmost For His Highest," by Oswald Chambers, and the associative reading from the Bible. Then we sit quietly for fifteen minutes, with pen and paper, and record any thoughts that come to us. Often, we ask for guidance for the upcoming day and what we ought to do. Read more
