Habitat for Humanity

  • This location is shown only to members

Join Morris County Ski Club for a day of giving back to the community.

32 Spring Street in Dover, NJ

We will be participating in the building of a single family home. The project is enclosed and projected to be finishing type work. This too may change. The date is open to 20 experienced and inexperienced workers.

Morris Habitat will provide us with: hard hats, goggles, gloves and basic tools, or you may bring any of your own personal items if you prefer. If you bring your own tools, please label them with your name.

Lunch: Lunch is ½ hour. Morris County Ski Club will underwrite the expense of pizza or other similar delivered meal.  The group often convenes for snacks and libations on our own after a fun day at a watering hole to be named later.

Parking: Parking space may be limited at the work site, so carpooling is recommended for large groups. A designated carpooling site may be established closer to the date.

Restrooms: Porta-potty will be available for your comfort needs at the job site.

NO SMOKING PERMITTED ON WORKSITE

Sensible or safe shoes are required. Steel toes optional; no sandals or open toed shoes.

I am most grateful for your support and look forward to a productive and enjoyable day. I have been in touch with environmental control and have the correct weather scheduled. It's gona be a blast. The task at hand for any one day is determined by what has been done previously and the weather (as we start on some of the exterior projects). With that said, some of the potential projects are:
    - Stucco work on the outside
    - finishing up a soffit cover
    - install counter tops in kitchen
    - flooring (both hardwood & ceramic tile)
    - Install shelving
    - Sanding & staining stairs
    - blown-in insulation (cellulose, not fiberglass)
This just a sample of the fun you may have. Your exact project may vary. As it appears right now we have 19 so we may have an opening for one more.

After the build we hope to be meeting to do what the club does best about 4:30. I will post the location this after noon when I know it.

If you thought you were booked out of the best event of the season I have great news. This build was booked and I had a wait list. Just this morning I had a cancellation and no wait list. If you act fast you can be the one that gets to have fun in the sun next Saturday helping on the build.

Once again after the build we will likely be heading to Cinders on 46 after the fun for those who really just want to have a drink. After all we are a drinking club with a ski problem.

Don, my son's ACL knee surgery is now scheduled on Friday, April 17th, the day before this Habitat for Humanity day. I was excited to join the event as a first-timer volunteer but it is the all-day event and I don't feel comfortable to leave my son alone at home. Sorry but I know you have more on the waiting list to take my spot. My loss! I wish you and all volunteers to have a great service. Mako

I meant April 18 for the surgery.
