Pacific Chamber Symphony - Classical Gems

The Pacific Chamber Symphony blends chamber music's intimate clarity with the power and tonal richness of a professional symphony orchestra. Under the guidance of its dynamic maestro (and Mostly Marin member) Lawrence Kohl, this group of brilliant professionals never fails to provide a warm and inspiring experience. Come and hear the Pacific Chamber Symphony's insightful interpretations of some of the most beautiful music ever written.

Mostly Marin has been offered a very generous discount for this event - only $15 per ticket plus a small ticketing fee (normally $35) and we will have a special seating section saved for us.  In order to get the discount and sit with the group, you MUST purchase your ticket in advance by clicking here. Then click on "enter a password or discount code" and use the discount code MM (all caps).  The discount will show up after you enter that code.

The discount is good until midnight the night before the event.  Tickets at the door will be $35.

I have reserved a table for dinner before the concert at 6pm Piazza D'Angelo in Mill Valley.  If you would like to attend dinner, as well, sign up at this link.

The musical program for this evening includes:

Haydn Sinfonia Concertante for violin, cello, oboe, bassoon, and orchestra (Igor Veligan, Nina Flyer, Robin May, Karla Ekholm soloists)
Beethoven: Symphony #7

Haydn's Concerto for Four takes a Baroque form a la Bach and frames it in a throughly Classical era style: virtousic and delightful

Beethoven's 7th Symphony is know as the "Apotheosis of Dance" in which Beethoven takes the classical symphonic form and infuses it with a distinctly Romantic Era sensibilities and joyousness.

The concert starts at 8 but please arrive no later than 7:45 to check in.

more info click here

If you would like to volunteer to usher or help with box office, please email Lawrence at [masked].  Volunteers need to arrive an hour early.  Only four volunteer spots available.  Get confirmation from Lawrence first.

Lynn - thank you for organizing this - it was a wonderful selection of music. I do hope that we can help to support them as they were very good. What a shame there were so few people there - their loss - our gain!

Second movement of Beethoven's 7th gave me chicken skin. For those of you not from the midwest, that means I loved it!

Thank you Lyn. Beautiful work Lawrence.

Hi Lyn, I can co-list future chamber music events on Fantastics 50's if you'd like to boost participation. I really enjoyed the evening.

The Pacific Chamber Symphony is an excellent group. It is amazing that they sound like a full blown orchestra with that number of musicians. It was even better since they played one of my favorite pieces. There should be a notice placed in the “Your Town” section of the IJ before their next Marin performance for a more deserved turnout.

It was such a treat to hear this amazing music in our backyard in a lovely, intimate venue! Thanks again to Lyn and Lawrence for organizing it and for the special pricing! Lawrence, your musical commentary added to the value of the experience for me and for all of us, I'm sure. It was all special, but the juxtaposition of three such different works was especially well chosen.

This is a wonderful regional orchestra and my only hope going forward is that we can help fill the venue for them next time, perhaps by word of mouth. They deserve it.

The ticket purchase setup is not working for me. “click here” goes to brownpaper tickets where the event is listed as “There are no active dates for this event.” The usual Add to Cart button is grayed out and says “Not Available.”
