Let's Salsa! Richard Bean & Sapo - A Cinco De Mayo Suavecito Party Free Show!!

Richard Bean & Sapo - A Cinco De Mayo Suavecito Party

Free all night! Two drink minimum.

Who doesn't remember the classic Malo song Suavecito from the early 70's? I think I wore that vinyl album out playing that song over and over. Brush up on your Salsa and Cha Cha Cha steps for this night of Latin Rock and Dance! Hmm.. wish I still had my bell bottoms and puffy sleeved shirts!

Reserve your spot on the dance floor, Richar Bean & Sapo are here...the best of the best!

Come celebrate your Cinco De Mayo with RICHARD BEAN & SAPO!

Sapo hailed as one of the hottest bands to hit the San Francisco Bay Area in many years. Sapo plays high energy, jumping, Latin flavored Rock, that leaves the audience stunned.

“In the annals of Bay Area music, Malo’s “Suavecito” will no doubt go down as the ultimate Latino love song. The San Francisco Latin rock group’s 1972 hit featured the voice of Richard Bean, who wrote it. Today the longtime Hayward resident is still going strong with Sapo, now celebrating 40 years of performing his tune with the band he formed after leaving Malo.

Sapo (the name translates as “Frog”) also got national exposure with a very nice self-titled album; barrio low-rider classics such as “Can’t Make It,” “Sapo’s Montuño,” and “Ritmo del Corazón” came out of that now-collectible LP. The incorporation of R&B, percussion and jazz elements made this band’s sound unique. Richard Bean was instrumental in upping the funk quotient in the then novel sound.”

Richard Bean and Sapo were amazing! Could have done without the opening band, but it was a fun night. Too bad there was such a small turn out.

Awesome band! The music brought back lots of good memories! This had to be one of the best shows I've seen at George's. Too bad more MM's didn't make it out or stay for Sapo. Opening band's set was too long but once Sapo started playing we were up dancing.. well at least the 7 of us that stayed and danced...
