Coastal Cleanup - Mostly Marin Volunteers

Come join us to volunteer (and free BBQ) as part of the International Coastal Cleanup, which is the largest volunteer event on the planet.

Every year, on the third Saturday in September, people join together at sites all over California to take part in the State's largest volunteer event, California Coastal Cleanup Day. In 2012, over 65,000 volunteers removed almost 770,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from California's beaches, lakes, and waterways. Families, friends, coworkers, scout troops, school groups, service clubs, and individuals come together to celebrate and share their appreciation of California's fabulous coast and waterways.

Cleanup: 9 am to noon                                                         Free BBQ at Bayshore Model, 2100 Sausalito - noon to 3 pm     Party afterwards @Salito's in Sausalito - 3 pm to 6 pm (or stay later for dinner)

What to Bring: bucket, glove, reusable water bottle, and any other reusable cleanup supplies you think you might want or need.

What to Wear: Wear closed-toed shoes, sunscreen, and a hat. Bring an extra layer, like a sweater or jacket in case it is cold. Be prepared to be outside in potentially changing weather for at least half a day.

I was just telling a friend what soldiers you all are for doing this in the rain! What a great group of eco-friendly friends! :-) Hey Allan...I hear it is going to rain again next month....can we plan this one again? ;-)

Well to be honest, it wasn't quite like we chose to volunteer outside because it was raining, more like we got stuck and didnt quite know what else to do - and for you Cindy, next time it rains we'll plan something special for the outdoors

I'm giving all of us 5 stars for being the troopers that we were. No fair weather friends of the environment in this crowd.

Did not manage to last 3 hours in the pouring rain but hopefully did some good.

Great time even with the unbelievable rain. Great group that came out - thank you to everyone, we made a difference. The bbq, after we returned from heading home to change into dry clothes, was also fun. Good to hang out together. More volunteer activities to come.

Unfortunately, I'm not feeling well today, so had to miss -- no, not because of the rain. Look forward to meeting you all at some other event.

Forgot to bring a change of clothes so had to go back home to get dry clothes before going to the BBQ. Picked up 2 full buckets of trash though before we left. Next time, we'll bring bathing suits!

I believe in giving back to our universe , fabulous idea !
    Need to admit my activity
Level may be more like a turtle , due to recent knee work .
If I am unsuccessful , can offer chair massages for the laborious Coastal Masters !;)

I plan on being at the beach at 8:45, going to the BBQ and then to Salito's. Anyone interested in carpooling from San Rafael?

    September 5, 2013

Hi Gregg...you could ride with me there but would then need to get a different ride home. Rich

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
