Have you ever wanted to explore and shoot abandonment in Detroit? Motor City Photography Workshops is offering an experience where you will be able to do so! Jesse Welter and Alanna St. Laurent will be your guides and host by transporting you to an abandoned building where they have shot in the past.
Participants should be in general good health and dress appropriately (layers, boots, etc.) as it could be overly warm or cold inside the buildings. Bring a flashlight. We will provide bottled water (and in colder months, hand warmers).
Bring any camera you like; it doesn't have to be a DSLR - it could be a film camera, a point-and-shoot or even a camera phone! A tripod and wide angle lens is recommended but not required. Definitely bring extra batteries and memory cards.
If you are new to urban exploring, read this page for information to make your experience the best it can be.
Meet at 6:45 a.m. at Parker Creative Co-op Studio in Royal Oak to leave by 7:00 a.m. We will shoot until 10:00 a.m. and then head back to the studio. During this time we will offer guidance in composition/exposure if needed and answer any questions you may have.
A liability waiver will be required for signature to take part in this outing.
Location of abandoned building will only be disclosed to members who RSVP to this outing. Location details will be emailed once outing capacity has been reached.
Motor City Photography Workshops reserves the right to change outing location after location is revealed to participants if access to planned location becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, and to choose a new location based on availability.
CANCELLATION POLICY: If this workshop has insufficient enrollment to run, Motor City Photography Workshops reserves the right to cancel the workshop 48 hours prior to the start of the workshop. If this happens, you will be notified by email and reimbursed in full.
