    Hi All,

We're official for the Kona Run in Northville! This will be our largest audience with 3,500 runners and watchers.

Please check your calendars for June 8th. We need to be there from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

RSVP now if you are "pretty sure" you'll be there as there is much up front planning for this one.

    Thanks,
    Craig.

    We Made the Paper!!

Today's (Jan. 17th) Canton Observer has an article on page A7 entitled "International Festival Wows a Crowd".

The article specifically mentions us as ,"New this year: the Motor City Ukes, a Ukulele Band." And contains a photo featuring three of our members.

Great work everyone. The article can also be seen online at www.hometownlife.com.

What a great event! It was so good to work with such talented dancer and musicians! I'm still in awe of the voices and playing skills of our members!

Craig, thanks you for all your organizing work for the group, both on this list and on announcements and instruction. This really helps those of us who need things in writing.

Melanee was able to reserve a photographer for us. The cost is $50 per disk. She is coordinating her group. If we each throw in a couple of $$, we can get a disk of all of the photos that she takes (to use as we wish). She can also crop/edit and retouch specific photos for an additional fee if we find a couple that we like a lot. This can give us good shots for the site. As for me since I'm not bringing a photographer, I'm in.

I get it now. "We" in the announcement above refers to the dance group, not the uke group.

"We will perform a few with recorded music." Does this mean we will play along with a recording? If we're playing, what is the point of the recorded music?

    • Sara W.

They dance to some recorded songs, and then to some live songs.

The hula dancers have a few songs that we haven't learned yet or have music for. They used to perform almost exclusively with recordings, but we have been adding our arrangements to replace these as we learn them. Hopefully we'll have all their tunes soon and be completely live.

After reading this again, I think I understand. The announcement above is from the dancers, who will perform a few additional songs with recorded music, without the uke group. Correct? That makes more sense to me :)
