How to Go Faster on Your Mountain Bike | Intermediate Skills Course

Have you reached a plateau in your mountain biking and can’t seem to ride faster on technical terrain without fear of falling off? Maybe you’ve tried a few trails, but lacked the confidence to hit technical sections as hard as you would like?

This Mountain Bike Skills :: Intermediate coaching course will build upon your Mountain Bike Skills Basics to give you a toolbox of mountain bike skills that you can apply to any terrain, in any location, and any in conditions; be it a gnarly back country trail or our local race course.

Following training you will see an immediate improvement in your riding and a boost in your confidence on technical trails. You will be able to tackle rougher terrain and trickier corners with greater control and negotiate bigger trail obstacles and moderate drops with confidence and commitment.

“This was awesome. Having someone dissect your riding into a few skills that you can member_[masked] focus on is a great starting point in order to make you faster. I’m sure everyone including myself experienced a positive feeling in how to improve from this point on. — Don’t expect to be a world champ after this clinic but to learn what and where and most importantly how to improve your trail riding from now on. Richard gives you the tools but you have to put in the work.” ~Michael Asgian

We start this clinic with a talk about specific bike handling skills and technique. From there, we'll do some simple drills. The drills will be on a soft, flat section of the park where you'll feel comfortable trying something new.

After everyone's got the hang of things, we'll head out to the trails to employee what we learned on a real ride.

This session is designed to be educational, fun and challenging.

This class is appropriate for beginner to intermediate riders. This clinic is $30 and meetup time is 7:45am with the clinic starting at promptly at 8:00am Saturday morning ending at 11:15am.

This clinic is sponsored by PowerBar who has graciously provided samples of their sports performance products for everyone to try.

I've been riding mountain bikes for years and feel like I just doubled my skill level in 3 hours. Seriously. I just rode down hills and went off jumps that were beyond my abilities yesterday. It's all about shifting your weight to the right places at the right times and my instincts were often dead wrong. Richard explained a variety of skills, demonstrated how to do them, then gave us feedback as we repeated exercises until we had them down. The highlight for me was learning how to accelerate into a steep downhill and land smoothly, ready to power up the other side. I don't race--I just ride for fun. But what could be more fun than being able to fly down harder terrain with more confidence? I can't wait to get out to my favorite trails and apply what I've learned!
