Solar Light Installation at Minor Park Gazebo (and park cleanup, per Marea)

Come join us for an event filled day as we install solar powered lights on the Minor Park gazebo so we can meet and have light during the evening for the upcomming Spring and Summer months.  The lights have been donated by community members for the community.  Now it's time for the community to come together and get them installed!  Please bring tall ladders, cordless drills, caulking gun and caulking, everything else will be supplied.  Bring a lunch for yourself and other food items and drinks to share.  The installation should take about an hour or so. Please indicate what you will be bringing in your comments section when you sign up.  Thanks, Brian (we have already received permission from the park to do this). Also, per Marea, if we get enough people, we will also do some park cleanup.  This will involve getting a head start on the weeds that have started, so bring rakes, hoes, shovels, weedwackers, etc (I will bring several gallons of Roundup and diesel fuel so they don't grow back!..Ha Ha).  We would also like to maybe remove some of the concrete benches that have been vandalized and are an eye soar (if we get permission from the park).

Brian, pictures of me actually doing something would be out of character. Beside I was having an argument with the Kodak software. I might get some more up. Or check my fb page.

Hi Eve, I was a little confused since you hadn't signed up for the event so was not sure you were there for the install until half way through. To reiterate, this site is not just for "core" events but for the whole community. The term "member" refers to being a member of this meetup group so feel free to post something and see what happens, anyone can post an event if they are a "member".

Several of the people who'd RSVP'd were no-shows but the installation went smoothly none the less. We were a small but mighty force!. And there was some Guerrilla Gardening action too. Thank you to Marea and Brian for the solar hardware donation; to Lizzy Anne's Garden Center for the 5gallon shade tree that was planted on the park; to Native Grow Nursery for the 42 assorted perennials that got installed in the planters in the entrance to the schoolhouse.

Not enough work for all who wanted to participate, especially if you are a girl and you wanted to work on the solar. I was sort of expecting a little explanation of how the solar works, so my son could learn from it....but Bahb is right, it was a nice day in the park.....I am hoping to get away from associating everything with a 'core' group, and to see these events and outings as a random mix of individuals coming together....or perhaps a gaggle of gawkers and go-getters getting their groove on !:)

I hope everyone realized the comment about bringing roundup and diesel fuel was a joke!

Thanks for the photo's Bahb! Were's the one I took of you? Don't be modest! I came back that night to confirm that it was working...it was but we need to adjust the beams so they shine downward on the tables more.

A few days later I did finally get some photos up.
But where were all these people who were signed up? Ya missed a nice day at the park. Would've been even better if you were there.

Actually, I was thinking of using white vinegar. It's only $3.99 for a gallon jug at the Village Market. I can bring hand sprayers.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
