Cathkin Braes will be the venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games MTB event.
The course, 5.5km long has a mix of terrain such as open heathland, wooded areas and challenging climbs and descents.
This is graded red, as although there are easier options, at present it may not be suitable for beginners. There are quite steep descents, and very tight tricky corners. It also features grueling uphill sections, some of which may seem impossible to all but freakishly super-fit drug cheats!
Although starting a wee bit later, the plan would be to do 2-3 laps which should take 1-1.5 hours. It is quite an intense course, so this should be plenty.
As usual, no Helmet, no ride. Please also make sure your bike is in good working order and you wear suitable clothing as Cathkin is quite exposed.
