The plan is to meet up at 8:45am in the parking lot of DD from there we can drive just north and consolidate cars at a elementary school parking lot or at the DD. There is a $3.00 parking fee at the trail head to Rose Ledge for each car. Bring $3.00 as there is no change machine here!

More about Rose Ledge

Tennessee Flake (5.9)

****************
Rose Ledge represents one of the regions most popular climbing destinations and deservedly so. The 40’-60’ cliff line contains a plethora of climbs for all abilities [masked]) though excels in both number and quality of moderates climbs. Some of the classic include Guillotine (5.8), Solar Flare (5.11b), Tennessee Flake (5.9) and Beginners Corner (5.5). The rock, similar to nearby Farley Ledge, is gneiss with obvious horizontal cracks and features. Several climbs at Rose are trad lead-able though the crag remains most popular as a top-rope area as access to the top is easy and straight forward.

The Western Mass Climbing Coalition www.climbgneiss.org has added lower-off anchors in many spots to preserve the trees and plans are to increase these the good thing, NO sport bolts will be found here. There is a guide book for this area written by a good friend and occasional climbing partner Al Rubin.

*********************

The hike from the parking is 20 minutes into the woods and away from car noise, making this a great place to climb, bring Lunch for a full day of climbing. The DD has a convenience store built in.

Climbers from Beginner to Advanced will enjoy this area

All climbers will need to bring a Helmet, Harness, and Climbing shoes, you can get by with sneakers and I do have 1 extra new harness

I have all gear to set up 2 ropes, and lots of anchor gear, if you have a rope bring it along

If there is rain, well we will try to do this again soon, stay posted as the week progresses
