The Team's: Everyone Gets Wait Listed..!

As always the size of the Meetup is based on how many people the area can handle & the number of lead climbers who RSVP for the Meetup....!

For each lead climber we need one experienced belayer and then we can add one newbie climber/Follower.

Its always the understanding that the "Newbie/Follower" as at a minimum has climbed indoors and has knowledge of the climbing knots and all the gear required & that the Belayer is willing to show that Newbie the how too clean gear and climb past challenges on the route.  Both the leader and the Belayer assist the Newbie/Follower and keep a eye out for their lack of knowledge.

Sign up...  First to RSVP is the first to fill a opening based on experience needed.

Questions @ RSVP:

You must answer all the questions! Too be a candidate for any trips. All we want to know is are you a leader or follower? Climbing grade that you can climb, if a leader? Your contact info? Also, the agreement and understanding that you read the waiver and the risks

If they are not answered I will have to overlook you being an attendee... Sorry

Hey, I am a little late to the accommodations discussion. I am looking to share a hotel for Saturday night. Anyone have space for one? I am glad to share in the costs.

Also, I am taking a clinic on Saturday and would be looking to climb with some folks on Sunday. Jay, are you making a group list?

Thanks and I am looking forward to seeing you all there!

Woops...So, if I can't find a space to share overnight, I might just head back to VT and climb in Smuggler's Notch. I would love to climb more in the 'Dacks though, so if anyone either has space or would like to share a space, please let me know soon. Thanks!

Would anyone like to share a room at one of the lodges and split the cost for the weekend?

    December 27, 2013

    • John T.

Are you still looking to share a room?

      January 11, 2014

    • Daniel Arnold G.

Hi John, Thank you for your message! I have managed to secure a single room - with only one bed - for myself at the Keene Valley Hostel. I am no longer looking to share a room. I hope that you are able to find something! See you at the festival!

I am trying to build the teams...

  • Tom S.

I hope I am not jumping the gun here, because I am sure Jay is working hard and coordinating everyone's climbing teams. I am looking to climb Chouinard's Gully on Sunday 1/19. It's 2-3 pitches of WI3 with a great view. I would be up for other multi-pitch routes in the area, but have been obsessed with Chapel Pond since seeing it last summer. I am an experienced follower, looking for a leader, hoping we could swap leads for a pitch or so.

    http://www.mountainproject.com/images/41/96/106644196_large_b88b8c.jpg

Climb is easily accessed and has a walk around so shouldn't be too long of a day.

    January 10, 2014

    • John T.

That is a very fun route, Tom. It easily goes in two pitches and if you are using double ropes, the rappel is the way to go. The you can jump on Chouinard's Right and do two more fun WI3-3+ pitches!

      January 10, 2014

  • Jay B.

Excited... Well i just seeing glimpse's of the 10 day outlook we will have freezing but mild temps in the upper 20's... That is super good news for climbing in ADK's not un-rare to be single numbers or lower..

Didn't get much response for the rental thus told Forrest I'd pass. She said if by chance I did get enough folks to check just in case.

Sorry, Ausable Inn is a good option or get on a waiting list if they have such a thing....

Jay - know any hassle-free/ no-hike-in camp spots in the area?

Anyone - want to get together for a Whiteface trip for 1/18? ~$73 tix if bought online

    ....getting psyched

I am a beginner! Have rocked climbed on and off for ten + yrs recreationally. Have been wanted to ice climb for years.

Oops- didn't realize this comment was made public. Anyways, tried to get into a beginner clinic but currently full. Fingers crosses it opens up!

i was going to sleep in my car, don't sign me up for 1/5 the rental, but I will most certainly chip in for floor space

    December 19, 2013

  • Courtney D.

I'd be interested. Prefer a floor over tent, honestly.

I sent an email to Forrest to find out about the space. If it is still available - I'll coordinate the lodging unless Jay is already doing that.

    December 19, 2013

  • Jay B.

looking at the attending list there is 5 that need some warm floor space based on conversations I remember having. Not including my self.. That would be 6... If we do get a space I am certian we can draw a few more climbers out of the group to go if there is warm sleeping space already set up...

    December 19, 2013

  • Jay B.

I have not acted on the rental... Was not planning on it.. its cheapest to sleep in the snow..:-) But I could be convinced to take some floor space if someone rents..

    December 19, 2013

  • Daniel Arnold G.

Hey Folks, I am interested in staying at the rental property too.

    December 18, 2013

Courtney- I'd be willing to stay at the property. The hotel is taking a good size chunk of my "fun funds."

    December 18, 2013

  • Courtney D.

Is anyone acting on that rental property in the area that was offered up? I think it'd be in my best interest to get a stake in that place. We can bring bags and pads and sleep more on the floor to work out costs if folks want. I personally have no desire to put money into a hotel if i can help it.

    December 18, 2013

Glad someone is paying attention to the "happenings" this winter. Thanks for posting and keeping this group alive, Jay.
