Sure!! That sounds good to me!

      August 1, 2013

  • Kristie W.

I did a weather check and the forecast is calling for 40% chance of showers and partly cloudy on Saturday/Sunday. The low will be about 50 degrees at night, so I recommend bringing a pair of lightweight pants and a lightweight jacket/fleece for sleeping in addition to your 45 degree bag. I will make a final weather call Friday night as this trip has a few small river crossings and wet boggy areas that if we receive a volume of rain may make the trip more challenging than the level it has been set at right now.

    July 31, 2013

    • Kunaal

Hi Kristie, thanks for the info. Do you know how deep the river crossing is normally and how fast the current is?

Hi everyone, would anyone like to carpool from the Somerville area ?

    July 31, 2013

    • yukti

Hey, I am not from Somerville, but I can come at any T-station of red line for carpool. I am coming from south shore.

sounds like it might be very buggy/wet

    July 28, 2013

    • Kristie W.

Hi Hubert, I am tracking the weather and will make a judgement call on Friday night

      July 31, 2013

  • Kristie W.

I wanted to follow up with some questions that have been asked, I have no problem with dogs, however would like to keep them to a minimum, if we can limit to two for this trip that would be great. We don't have unlimited space at the tentsite. Sawyer Pond contains platforms, which can hold about 3 one man tents, or 2 two person. I want to try and not occupy all the platforms, weather permitting I will be sleeping outside on the ground. If there is anyone who is willing to bunk together in a two person that would be ideal. You must have the basic gear list for this trip. I will have a community stove, but you will need your own pot if you want to simmer something. I will also have a water filter for pumping which we do need to do at this site, we can pump right from the pond. I recommend a 45 degree bag, anything warmer is unlikely needed at this time of year, this will reduce your pack weight. If you have any questions please feel free to call me at[masked] or email me.

I've done it a couple of times. It's awesome falling asleep looking at the stars, plus I never got bites :D but I did get rained on briefly

Just got bumped up the waitlist, I don't have a tent yet. I can buy too, but ideally would like to share with someone who has space for my accommodation.

      July 23, 2013

  • Lauren P.

Ah! I made other plans since there were at one time a bunch of people ahead of me on the waitlist. Have a great time!

    July 16, 2013

  • Lauren P.

I JUST received an email to change my RSVP to "Yes" instead of being on the waitlist, but the site won't allow me to do it! Anyone know why??

    July 16, 2013

  • Gryte

Oops. Have to back out of this one. Super bummed about it, but apparently I have to move apartments this weekend and not the one before which makes it a tad impossible. Ah well. Have a good time

    July 16, 2013

  • Kunaal

Solo tent here also, sorry can't share. I have a tarp and mesh bivvy if someone wants to get creative and make a hammock though.

  • ingrid

    hi
I too am bringing my K9...very friendly quiet lo-key guy
has hiked in Rockies and camped

    1 · July 14, 2013

  • Gryte

This sounds like a great easy trip. Can I bring my dog along? He's done his share of hiking but no overnights so this seems like a good intro for him

    1 · July 12, 2013

    • Kristie W.

Hi Gryte! Is your dog obedience trained and friendly toward strangers?

      July 13, 2013

    • Gryte

He's a little timid, but friendly (he's not the golden retriever that thinks everyone he meets is his long lost best friend, is a little more wary of strangers, but he's not unfriendly and certainly not aggressive or fearful). He hasn't gone through formal obedience training, but is well behaved and obedient and knows the basics (sit, stay, come, etc). He's quiet and laid back and I think would do very well on an overnight, I just haven't had the opportunity to bring him yet.

      July 14, 2013

  • Tia

I don't remember what we did for water last time, will someone have a water filtration unit?

    July 13, 2013

    • Kunaal

I'll bring a filter and purification tablets.

      July 13, 2013

    • Kristie W.

Hi Tia! I have a filter for the group.

      July 13, 2013

  • Karl R.

I have a solo tent but will bring my 2 man tent in case someone needs it. I will bring my water filter too. If the weather is nice probably sleep just in my sleep in the open.

    July 13, 2013

  • ingrid

I have a solo tent so don't share!

    July 13, 2013

  • Kunaal

Sounds like fun, thanks for organizing
