Ice Climbing: Frankenstein Cliffs ( Indeterminate - Advanced )

Frankenstein Cliff’s has waterfall ice routes ranging from low angle and easy to very steep and difficult all crag style of climbing. I have done a lot of my steep ice climbing here.

Classic steep ice climbs at Frankenstein include Standard Route, Pegasus, Dracula, Chia and too many others to mention. The short flat approach about 1 mile along a railroad track and numerous super fat ice climbs make this one of the best and most user-friendly places to go ice climbing in the East. Most climbs are multi pitch climbs with a walk off to the north west along a packed out decent route.

I will keep the RSVP at 3 climbers 3 person teams. As leaders for multie pitch climbing or a leader able to set up top-rope options RSVP I will add folks from the waiting list.

Group Size:

I will have to limit the group to as many lead climbers I get for this trip. I will start off with 3 ( 1 Leader & 2 Followers ) and add both as I see leaders sign up for our trip.

New-ish Leaders there is top roping options available.

Most ice is in the 2-5 grade level....

Questions @ RSVP:

You must answer all the questions! Too be a candidate for any trips. All we want to know is are you a leader or follower? Climbing grade that you can climb, if a leader? Your contact info? Also, the agreement and understanding that you read the waiver and the risks

If they are not answered I will have to overlook you being an attendee... Sorry

I have Hatch Plaza listed as our meetup location for anyone rolling north. If you are coming from the north or the east you can meet us in the parking lot of Frankenstein Cliffs/ Arathusa Falls Parking lot at 9:00- 9:30am

You will need the listed Ice Climbing gear in the files section of our meetup page on line.

Rental equipment is available from many Guide services and retailers in No Conway and Loon. I will try try to post a list of them online.

Waiver:  Read !!!

Ok, Folks so it looks as we have a fair bit of grade 3 leaders.. Not many followers. So it looks good for all and swapping leads through out the day.. If you don't have a full rack of screws or you only have a couple pieces and need more. Bring all you got and see if we can pair up someone else who also has a partial rack with you. Same with ropes.. If you have it bring it!!! Also if you are one of the followers.. You need to make sure you have all the stuff listed on the gear list for climbing gear on ice as a follower.. Contact me if you have questions... Cheers... and Happy Holidays

I am still up for going, but I do not have the best car for that much snow. Carpool anyone? I am still new to the area, so I will leave change of venue decisions to people that know the area. I will say that I went to Kinsman on Saturday and there are a few routes in (the cold temps all week have probably helped immensely).

Arrive tonight before the snow, set up base, climb tomorrow in the Nor'easter, long night in the tent, climb Friday, dig the cars out...

Hey Everyone.. Sounds like a Nor-easter is rolling up tonight... 8-1 inches of snow for central NH.. It could be epic driving.. So what ever you choose just let me know or change your RSVP.. No worries... We also could change our location to something a bit closer in which we could shave a couple hours of driving off you day if that seams better? Kinsman, New Found? Comments?
