Which aspects of mountaineering and backcountry sports are of most interest to you? -- (Hiking) (Backcountry Skiing) (Ice Climbing) (Rock Climbing) (Backpacking & Camping) ?

Anything that will get me away from man made walls.

What is your level of mountaineering experience or other backcountry skills? -- (Novice) (Beginner) (Intermediate) (Advanced) (Pro)? (Feel free to add some specifics):

I would say a solid intermediate. I have done several summits in Spain (Pyrinees in the winter), also in Portugal, Romenia and France (French Alps). All this included backpacking, climbing, and hiking.

What is your greatest achievement in the the mountains as of today?

Being at the French Alps was the best experience so far. The 3 of us got to the top of Aguille du Tour (11,620 feet high). The weather did not alow us to reach Mont Blanc.

What is you "next" greatest goal? Touch some summit? Backpack a trail?

I have started the 4000 Footers in New Hampshire. The big project would be Denali in 4 to 6 years from now. This has been on top of my bucket list for a couple of years. In between I hope to go to the Smokey Mountains and Shenandoah.

What was your most epic, trip that gives you the cold sweats in the middle of the night?

While backpacking in the Retezat National Park in Romenia, one night we were camping next to one of the lakes and a thunderstorm rose. All night long lightning was around us and water running under our tents. There was nowhere else to go. There was no phone reception, only 4 of us and 2 tents. We had to wait untill the morning and hope for better weather. This was one of 7 nights spent there. We were 4 friends backpacking around the National Park. We stayed in 2 base camps, and did some peaks in the area. It was a true backpacking experience.

I love the being surrounded by Nature. I am from Portugal. I have had the chance to travel around Europe, and now exploring the wonders of North America.
