Which aspects of mountaineering and backcountry sports are of most interest to you? -- (Hiking) (Backcountry Skiing) (Ice Climbing) (Rock Climbing) (Backpacking & Camping) ?

Ice climbing, rock climbing, and hiking - in that order.

What is your level of mountaineering experience or other backcountry skills? -- (Novice) (Beginner) (Intermediate) (Advanced) (Pro)? (Feel free to add some specifics):

I would consider myself an intermediate hiker. Most of my hiking has been in the White Mountains, the Mid-State trail, and some hiking in Vermont. I'm probably borderline intermediate at rock climbing. I climb fairly regularly indoors and have a membership at CRG in Worcester and have done some outdoor climbing. This year I would like to learn how to set up top rope anchors. I'm definitely a beginner when it comes to ice climbing, though I aspire to great heights with this newfound activity. I have acquired the essential gear, but am looking forward to perfecting my technique, learning to place ice screws and eventually acquiring my own rack maybe someday learning to lead.

What is your greatest achievement in the the mountains as of today?

My greatest achievement in the mountains as of yet was climbing Moosilauke in the snow.

What is you "next" greatest goal? Touch some summit? Backpack a trail?

My next greatest goal is to get really proficient at ice climbing.

What was your most epic, trip that gives you the cold sweats in the middle of the night?

I'm still aspiring to my most epic trip that gives me cold sweats in the middle of the nite. At some point I will need to update this entry.

I live in W. Townsend, MA and work in Billerica as a patent specialist. This my 3rd year with the AMC and I am constantly trying and learning new things. My latest discovery is ice climbing, I have found the silver lining in winter, and I'm hooked!
