Hope everyone has been getting out a bunch this summer.. I personally have explored so much with the group this past couple of months its been so great. New Trails new faces.. August, Sept & Oct are the prime climbing & backpacking months. Excited just thinking about the fun to be had..
I have herd from members that have just returned from trip's around the world and have great stories of summits and valleys seeing what can be seen... I cant wait to hear about it, all the success and failures ( I so love a epic) all when I see you all next outside..
Labor Day weekend...
I am emailing the group as a whole I am looking for feed back on who is available for "Labor Day" for a 4 day backpacking trip... Arrive Friday Night (late) in Maine and begin backpacking Sat - Tues. My thought last year everyone is out with there friends who only get out once a year or spending it with family. But with some folks asking recently I am checking to see if there is any interest for a holiday weekend Meetup trip...
This Labor Days trip is planned for Maine.. I researched as well as did couple of the other organizers in the group and found the rules and restrictions daunting.. Ya just cant backpack where you want to go... But! I figure, you still can have fun. Following there pre-setup itinerary by the park, inside the park it still can be a good time and see plenty..
Anyone who have never been to the park your missing out.. Its a bucket list item.
I am posting a Poll today, right after I emailed this.. If your hoping I post the coolest intermediate backpacking trip ever and are available please take minute and vote on the poll set up.
Poll will be open till 6pm this Friday.. As always I "try" to post all Meetup multiple day trips locally, one month in advance. Park rules, you smell bad and no dogs.. I will post all the rules when and if I post the trip.
Trip will be only for 8 folks that's all the room left in the park for the nights we are there. The days will all be of intermediate level of physical activity except on day #3 the book says its strenuous. The miles are not any worst then a typical trip in NH under 6 each day. Gain is low to zero all but day #3. I can see the book certainly runs on the safe side on there hiking times and evaluations..
Backpack outside the park on the AT for the last 30ish miles. which will still bring us up and over Baxter on the second to last day.. There is still Permits that need to be gotten for this but it has more flexibility for a group itinerary.
Just go to VT they have better Ice Cream..
Let me know....
Cheers, Its over cubed ice, a ounce of Smugglers Notch Vodka, Slice of Lime and fill with tonic water... <grin>
