I have been a member of one other Meetup group over the pass year and I was pleasantly surprised with the immediate and welcoming warmth among the members. I also love movies. Not so much today's films. They tend a toward the ridiculous too often.
I love old movies with Bogie, Cagney and Robinson. I also love the flightiness of the comedies, and especially the great comediennes (Jean Authur, Irene Dunne,Rosalind Russell) of that era.
Not really. Perhaps the daytime hours Monday thru Thursday.
I've also taught Frederick Douglass's Autobiography of the Life of a Slave. It never ceases to disturb me. I saw The Butler and thought it was excellent. The Lincoln movie was a bit long and slow-moving for me, though it was well-acted. Didn't see D'jango. My daughter said it upset her, so I skipped it. Let me know if you want to see 12 Years. I'm down for it. BTW, I grew up outside of Washington, DC. Best friend's dad was a speech writer for the NCCJ.
Thanks for the message. See you next time - perhaps, October 4?
yes it was long...but it took me home safe. :)
