Just moved to Nashville and all my new friends are about to give up long, interesting discussions by the pool for FOOTBALL >(. Instead of referees, I want to watch George Cukor, Alfred Hitchcock, Stephen Frears, Francois Ozon or Dominik Moll. My favorite films are anything with the Hepburn gals, Helen Mirren, or Bill Nighy. I don't think you have to own the DVD to prove you love a film. I like to travel light and am a middle-ground green freak. When you are watching a great (or even just good) film you are never alone. Still, I enjoy sharing films with friends and talking about them until (and after) the next one. I like to meet and talk a few days after the film. Perspectives change. Popcorn is crucial, with non-pareils.
Just moved to Nashville and all my new friends are trading film for football. I just bought a new TV (sorry not flat screen) and hope to host movie nights. My faves are screwball classics, almost anything British and intellectual foreign films.
