Let's get some good food and see a movie: First, let's go to the Pop Up at 1108 Pacific Ave., Santa Cruz where they will be serving a lndian/French inspired dinner from the movie, THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY. The Pop Up will start serving dinner at 5 PM so let's get to the Pop Up at 4:45. The cost for dinner and the movie is $16.00.

After we eat, we can walk to the Del Mar and see the movie THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY which starts at 7:00pm (just a few shops away from POP UP).
(I am not sure how crowded this event will be so we may eat our dinner in the Mezzanine at the Del Mar.)

This event will sell out quickly so you should purchase your tickets soon. In order to purchase your ticket for the dinner AND the movie, you must purchase it at the Del Mar Theater ($16.00). If you do not want to go to dinner, you can join the group at the theater to watch the movie which starts at 7:00 PM.

                   ADVANCE SCREENING THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY

Starring Academy Award-Winner Helen Mirren

Produced by Oprah Winfrey & Steven Spielberg

Based on the best-selling book, in "The Hundred-Foot Journey," Hassan Kadam (Manish Dayal) is a culinary ingénue with the gastronomic equivalent of perfect pitch. Displaced from their native India, the Kadam family, led by Papa (Om Puri), settles in the quaint village of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val in the south of France. Filled with charm, it is both picturesque and elegant - the ideal place to settle down and open an Indian restaurant, the Maison Mumbai.

That is, until the chilly chef proprietress of Le Saule Pleureur, a Michelin starred, classical French restaurant run by Madame Mallory (Academy Award winner Helen Mirren), gets wind of it. Her icy protests against the new Indian restaurant a hundred feet from her own, escalate to all out war between the two establishments - until Hassan's passion for French haute cuisine and for Mme. Mallory's enchanting sous chef, Marguerite (Charlotte Le Bon), combine with his mysteriously delicious talent to weave magic between their two cultures and imbue Saint-Antonin with the flavors of life that even Mme. Mallory cannot ignore. At first Mme. Mallory's culinary rival, she eventually recognizes Hassan's gift as a chef and takes him under her wing.

Great evening. The pop up dining experience gave us a "taste" of the movie.

I really loved the movie. Still feel like I am in the French countryside. Just sat by myself at the movie (I was late) but found a few other members after the movie for a quick chat. Thanks.

Hope this goes through. Met up with one person and that was o.k. Thanks for creating this as it made me get out to see it. I thought it needed a bit more tension. Yet loved the Indian scenes as it brought back lots of memories from my travels to that part of the world. Thanks again for putting out the word.

I was told when I called that the movie is in the big theater so will not sell out. I don't know about the dinner. I also asked if they plan, in the future, to take credit cards by phone so people don't need to drive downtown if that is inconvenient to advance purchase - he said yes, in the future. I did not advance purchase but will come down around 5pm.
