FREE Movies on the Terrace: Galaxy Quest

Some have joked that Galaxy Quest is the "best Star Trek movie ever made!" It is one of my favorite, light-hearted films--no matter how many times I've seen it, it always makes me laugh.

Please join your fellow film buffs and foodies for another FREE summer delight on the UW Memorial Union Terrace. If you'd like to grab a bite to eat before the movie starts at 9 PM, you are encouraged to patron der Rathskeller at 7 PM to enjoy some classic pub cuisine.

The stars of the classic series, Galaxy Quest, are still in costume, making appearances at science fiction conventions for their legions of diehard fans. But some of those fans are a little more far out than the actors could ever have imagined. A group of aliens who have mistaken intercepted television transmissions for "historical documents" arrive at a convention and whisk "Commander Peter Quincy Taggart" and his crew into space to help them in their all-too-real war against a deadly adversary. With no script, no director, and no clue about real interstellar travel, these stars must turn in the performances of their lives to become the heroes the aliens believe them to be.

Hope to see you there!

One of my favorite movies just got better through seeing it with all of you. The venue, weather, and company were perfect. Thanks, everyone, for attending!

Hi, everyone! I will get to the Terrace around 4:30 and will have a red star Mylar balloon. It will be joined by Mylar happy face balloons, so we will have lots of beacons for our group! I will wear a long black and white dress with a black belt and will bring a red jacket. My phone number is (608)[masked]

Hi, everyone! We will have a fantastic group for Monday night's movie at the UW Memorial Union Terrace. We will be meeting with members from Energizers as well as Madison Geekery. I will get to the Union Terrace about 4:30 to start reserving tables for our group. If you came to Wrath of Kahn, I will try to get tables in the same general area. I was able to get us a nice spot in front by the outdoor stage where the movie sceen is set up. I will have a balloon this time so folks will have an easier time finding us. People are encouraged to grab food from der Rathskeller as you need, or bring in whatever you want. This will be a casual, fun, and relaxed meetup. If you have trouble finding us, my iPhone number is: (608)[masked]

Jean - do you have a plan for WHERE and (exactly) when to meet for both those having dinner and those coming for only the movie? Thanks!

Sorry, hit the return a bit prematurely! :) I will be in a better place to describe Monday's plan after I return from my father's funeral services. Look for more info on Thursday morning.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
