Blue Jasmine for $5

I realize this is unusual, a Friday morning movie meetup, but if you are available and interested in seeing a great film directed by Woody Allen, please join me. I took Friday off from work to enjoy an extra long Labor Day weekend.

Point Cinemas has morning showings for only $5. It's the next cheapest way I know to see movies, other than FREE or waiting until they come to Market Square. I will be between the ticket counter and concession area at 9:30 for a 9:50 show. My iPhone number is: (608) 332-8254.

After everything in her life falls to pieces, including her marriage to wealthy businessman Hal, elegant New York socialite Jasmine moves into her sister Ginger's modest apartment in San Francisco to try to pull herself back together again.

The film stars Alec Baldwin and Cate Blanchett and has been getting terrific reviews.

I have not scheduled a meal option; albeit, lunch would not be out of the question.

Hope to see you there!

I could see parallel with Streetcar named Desire but what was more fun about this one was the dark humor that peeked through. I also didnt see what was so "crazy" about Blanchette's character, seemed like a normal day in menopause to me ha

Cate Blanchette's performance in this film may be the one to try and beat come Oscar time. She has set a really high bar.

Great movie and company! Could really see strong parallels to Streetcar Named Desire, which is one of my favorite movies of all time. Ending was not a Hollywood happy one, but it was far more real and honest that way.

We, too, have seen the film and agree with Ann; it is a treat. Blanchett gives a terrific performance. One review I read said it is Woody Allen's take on A Streetcar Named Desire, and we did see some parallels, but not the expected ones. Enjoy! We look forward to some upcoming Friday morning outings.

This Friday won't work for me this week but hope you'll schedule other morning films in the future, Jean. Enjoy the fantastic movie, Ladies!
