Get Taxed then Relax - Moxie Mixer "Logo Edition"

Hello! Thanks for being a part of Moxie! Feedback from last week reflects a desire for Moxie to be both a social and professional group for LGBTQA professionals in urban policy and planning. As such, there will be another Moxie Mixer!

Following up with the results of last week’s event survey, members requested a venue that is less noisy, less expensive, and more intimate. As such we will be living it up in the Vinyl Lounge, located at 121 W. Hubbard St. (yes, it’s across the street from the Hubbard Inn, the location of our last mixer).

We will have our own cozy corner! Turn to your left through the main entrance.  This venue is also ADA accessible, as will be the norm for all Moxie events. Please let me know if you need any assistance of any kind in this matter.

Moxie members Sarah Kellerman ( and Jackson Morsey ( have volunteered to design the Moxie group logo. If you have any ideas to contribute or would like help, email sarah.c.kellerman [at]

Our future logo will be voted on at the Moxie Mixer. In addition, we will be working to write our groups “mission statement” – don’t worry, it’s going to be fun.

Speaking of fun, there will be a raffle, with even awesomer prizes!

Here is the rough schedule:

5:30 Event start

6:15 Introductions (prepare a 20 second bio of who you are!)

6:45 Activity – Pickin’ that Mission Statement!

7:30 Raffle!

8:00 Event end

(For those of you interested, I’ll be headed out for dinner after!)

There will be $5 craft beers and $5 Jameson shots on special. Cash bar – unfortunately we don’t have the funds yet to spot you! Check out Vinyl’s website for more information:

No coat check, but there are racks to hang your coats and bags!

But wait! Have you seen the pictures from our first Moxie Mixer?! Take a look:

As always, if you have any questions or comments about Moxie, including event venues, activities or possible sponsorships, please let me know!

Excited to volunteer?! Please do. I’d love to get to know you better and help make this group open to everyone to participate.

Speaking of “everyone” – Moxie is open to everyone and anyone, including our straight allies! Bring your friends – the more the merrier.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you and your friends soon!

Hey Daniel, I'd love to attend, but I'm heading up a CADS event that night. Let me know how it goes and we'll catch up after!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
