Location is tentatively set at 54 Greene Ave. It's right off of the A/C & G trains.
I envision this meetup to be casual yet focused. 2 hours or so. We will spend the first part with introductions; who are you, and why did this catch your attention? Then we can begin deciding on a project. Everyone is welcome to share their ideas, and we can decide as a group which project(s) to address, timelines, roles, etc.
This should be fun. The point is that everyone has strengths. Some people can code, some can architect, some have the initial spark of an idea. Together we can make something, or even several, really cool projects.
Do it for whatever reason motivates you: you want to make a name for yourself? You want to build your portfolio? You want to meet people? Great. Please join.
I imagine the roles we'll need to fill (if you can fill multiple roles, that's perfect):
IDEATORS: Everyone is encouraged bring an idea to share, if they can. If you don't have an idea, that's perfectly fine. You will contribute somewhere else. I will certainly be bringing an idea, so we will definitely have at least 1 feasible idea...
VISIONARIES: People who can listen to ideas and envision the possibility; how it can be done; what shortcomings will need to be addressed in the big picture
ARCHITECTS: Experts in code who know how something will need to be constructed. Architects address most of the issues that can't be solved by coders, building the structure that frames the idea.
CODERS (front-end, back-end): The first line on all counts. You make the idea come to life.
EVERYONE ELSE: Come out to see how we do this; maybe you can suggest ways to improve the process, or the product. We'll need an audience of product testers; supporters; and whatever comes up.
Not sure if this is too detailed (or for those who use agile, scrum, etc. maybe this is not what you're used to) but hopefully people understand where we're going, and how you can help. A fun group project; on your timeline; with your preferred work methods; that will have a positive impact.
Hope to see you there!
