Palisades Lake, Mt. Rainier

Great hike by Mt Rainier. A wonderful hike in the fall.  You will see many lakes. In order of the hike, this is what you will see: Sunrise Lake, Clover Lake, Dick Lake, Hidden Lake (a favorite of previous hikers - and it is hidden), Upper Palisades Lake and Lower Palisades Lake. There are also many unnamed lakes.

Driving Directions: From Enumclaw, drive east 43 miles on State Route 410 to the Mount Rainier National Park White River Entrance. Veer right onto the Sunrise Road and follow it 12 miles west to the parking lot inside the hairpin turn at Sunrise Point.
Trail stats: 7.5 miles roundtrip and 1800 foot gain.

Some things to bring:

10 essentials (See http://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/ten-essentials.html)

Mt. Rainier Pass required.

Please don't forget gas money for drivers! Please read our guidelines for participation (found on the discussion board). Then RSVP 'yes'  and acknowledge that you have read these guidelines and will abide by them. Thanks.

Hi I'm new to hiking. I did a moderate hike named upper crystal lake trail just past crystal mountain ski resort. I was sore afterwards but was fine. Is this hike appropriate for me?

Thanks Michael I did the hike alone on Saturday and actually meet Charlotte, Teresa and Kevin on the trail. It was nice to talk to them! there was only two areas that made be puff but a good puff.:) The beginning of the hike is steep decline so hitting it at the end made me work a bit. Also about mid way there is a stretch but both were no big deal. Thanks though for the advise.

I'm sorry to most likely miss this, but need to rid this horrible headache before hitting the trails. Post pics!

I did this hike in the spring and it was a beautiful day and a wonderful hike. Prior commitments prevent me from joining the group on the hike this year.

Please note - you will need a Mt. Rainier pass for this hike (if you are driving). I can take 3 people with me. I will need another driver for carpooling. Thank you!!

Thanks Teresa. I haven't done a group hike before. I plan to try one. I might try this one alone to get a few hikes under my belt to get a better feel of what level I'm at before I hike with others. I plan to hike with your groups in the future. I have read the guidelines and have the 10 essentials and more.
