Shall We Play a Game? (no host)

- This event can only take place if enough people sign up who will bring their own games! Post a comment if you have a game and want to meet to play it. Otherwise the event will be cancelled. The usual hosts won't be available. -

Come join us for a fun afternoon with your favorite board and card games.

Please feel free to bring your own games and/or request games you would like to play during the event. It would be great if you could post the game(s) you would like to bring in the comments section. This way we can prevent unwanted duplicates and have a better overview of the total number of games available.

A small, basic selection of board and/or card games is usually brought by the event host(s).

A rough list of suitable games some members own (German and English editions) at BoardGameGeek.

For most of the games English rules will be available.

You will reach the venue by tram 18 ->Effnerplatz.

Get off at stop Paradiesstrasse.

Turn more or less right into Oettingenstrasse.
"Restaurant Leib und Seele" is ~50 meters across the street.

We are constantly looking for venues that allow card or/and board games. So if you know any please feel encouraged to tell us :).

A request for meetups in public establishments:
Everyone should order both food & drinks to help mitigate possible lost business as board games players tend to stay longer than usual.
Please also try to keep track of everything you consumed and don't forget to pay when you leave, so that nobody has to pay extra to cover alleged shortfalls in the end.

Thank you.

Hope to see you there! :)

It was a total disaster. We only had a tiny table for 12 people, and only 5 people showed up, so we could only play one 4-player game and one 1-player game. Everybody took the respective games far too seriously and we got into a fight and all ended up in hospital.

Just kidding, it was great! ;-)

I know at least one person who participated in the last Munich Game Jam http://www.meetup.com...
who would have preferred to make a board game rather than a computer game, and if enough people show up at one of those meetups who would like to give it a try, no one is stopping them :)

And I'm sure that there will be people there who would also be interested in designing board games outside of any meetup.

As for a venue, I know that this place occasionally hosts a regular evening of game players (although I've never been at one of the meetings myself): http://www.wirtshaus-zum-isartal.de/
They have big tables well-suited for most board games, and they told me that they basically always tolerate players except on public holidays (Sundays should be fine; I don't know how crowded it would be between 2 and 6 on Sundays; I've only been there around Christmas and once on a Wednesday night before 10 pm. Both times it was pretty empty.

Hey there, I reserved a table for 13:45 like always for 12 people at Leib & Seele on Sunday. I had to call them tonight to make sure they will have room for you on Sunday. If you pla to go somewhere else instead please let me know, Thank you.

I think I'll leave BSG at home; we can arrange a separate event in which we can play it. I might even obtain the English edition at some point, since I already have the English Pegasus expansion.

Any preferences regarding the other (simpler and shorter) games I listed?

    February 27, 2014

  • Steff

Hey folks, would you please start to post the games you want to bring to the event here? If there won't be enough games listed I will have to cancel the event since the usual hosts who always bring a basic selection won't be there.

Has this been cancelled? It says "RSVPs closed"

    February 18, 2014

    • Steff

Hi Nicolai, I'm not sure yet whether I'll be available in 2 weeks so I delayed the RSVPs until the host question is solved. Stay tuned ;).
