Want to start the week right and help ease the jolt of the upcoming work week? Then join us on our regular Monday After Work Drinks.

We'll be trying out a new pub or bar each week (suggestion/s very much welcome) and in some instances allow us to practice German (and for the locals their English).

So what are you waiting for? Don't be shy, come and join in the fun!

I walked around hoping to see a table with a Meetup sign. Didn't see anything and ended up leaving.

I got there just in time, called Philip (was already 3 meters behind the group, because of the already posted directions regarding the 6th or 7th table), met with whoever was there, watched the game and talked a bit afterwards. Fine for me!

Hi Bruno, glad you're still smiling :-)

  • Jalil

for me was nice evening. Thanks to Philip and Mahmut for organizing.

I can only agree. Thanks to Philip and Mahmut for organizing this meet up and a nice evening. Especially when locations and possibilities are limited during world cup matches.

Well it seems that not everything went optimal with this meetup. Small TV not suitable viewing from all places, but I was really surprised that it was still possible to get a seat just on time.
Usually as I know viewings of german games you have to be there 1-2 hours earlier. Otherwise you won't get any seats and it is nearly impossible to reserve seats for a large number of people. This is in contrast to the usual monday meetings.

  • Anna

For me it was like this:
Got there on time, spent 15 mins before the game trying to find somebody from our group in the crowd, called a couple of times, got no answer, unchained my bike and went home. Next time I suggest not to mix matching TV with networking. Or at least set up a good meeting point where people can find each other easily.

    June 17, 2014

    • Christian W.

Yes a meeting point would be nice, but Mahmut was sitting at the entrance trying to watch out carefully for new arrivals and new faces. But in case of a large number of participants and crowd it is not always possible.

      3 · June 17, 2014

    • Philip

Hey Anna, sorry for your experience. Yes, it is slightly more problematic meeting during the world cup, especially when Germany is playing, we will see how we can do better next time. I assure you that this is not standard practice

      3 · June 17, 2014

  • Sharon H.

No. It was not very pleasant watching the football team. I could watch it on the television at home.

    June 17, 2014

  • Cristian

Sorry guys, couldn't find u... Maybe u should consider putting some sort of marker on the table next time?

    1 · June 16, 2014

    • Salvo

We have a small TV on the table...6th row from the entrance

      June 16, 2014

  • Salvo

    I can't find you...who can I call?

    June 16, 2014

    • Emily C.

I called already- no seats left! But I am on the back row if you wish to join me! :)

      June 16, 2014

  • Tara

Hey, on this monday is the first play of Germany at 6pm. We could watch it together somewhere, right? Biergarden?

    3 · June 11, 2014

    • Christian W.

Yes watching it in a biergarten is a nice idea, but the main problem is that I expect the biergarten to be populated and closed before <5pm. We could meet a Paulaner Biergarten. It is not as crowded usually.. Definitely it wont be possible to reserve any seats for late arrivals..

      June 11, 2014

    • Dot

      Sorry can't make it

      June 16, 2014

  • Mahmut

The seats in front of the TV are full. For everybody else, we are at the 6th row from the entrance. 1st/2nd table

    June 16, 2014

  • Katrin H.

I am on my way, But will be late, sorry!
Is there any Seat for me ?

    June 16, 2014

  • Katrin H.

    Hi,
we should be in time! There are a lot people!
Tara is there at the moment and could catch 2 tables for us! Thank you very much to here.
Hope to see all of you :-)

    June 16, 2014

  • Philip

Not that much going on yet, but I guess that can change fast

    June 16, 2014

    • Philip

Its impossible to reserve 20 seats alone, I had to give some up. I already have to defend them every minute. But there is the tend and standing places around with

      June 16, 2014

    • Bruno M.

      Arriving in 15 min...!

      June 16, 2014

  • Philip

I am already there, there is this tent with projector, this contains no seat. There is also a big tv screen where I reserved four banks, 20 seats, that is as much as I can reserve as one person really

    2 · June 16, 2014

  • Christina

The location seems a really nice place....but there are no hints on the website that they actually show the game...which would anyway start already at 6pm.

    June 15, 2014

    • Christina

      Thanks, Mahmut!

      1 · June 15, 2014

    • Moni

:-D Thank you, Mahmut, for checking!!

      June 15, 2014

  • Tara

The game starts at 6pm! Do we really want to meet at 6.30pm? ???

    June 15, 2014

  • Moni

    Hi everyone
Both suggestions look very nice. Since the weather apparently stays well, spending time in the beergarden seems a great idea.
Mahmut kindly agreed to be the Organizer of this event and contact the beergarden for reservations.
However, I hope we'll do another Monday Drinks after work at "Amalie" soon, since it looks like a really nice place that can host many people.
Hope to see you on monday,
    Moni

    June 15, 2014

  • Dot

Where are we going? If you haven't got an idea, I can suggest the Amalie, Amalienstr. and in Amalien-Passage in Schwabing. Had an excellent pizza and calzone there last week and they have place for 70 people.

    1 · June 13, 2014

    • Bruno M.

Totally fine for me. As long as we can watch the game! :)

      June 13, 2014

    • Mahmut

Schwabing could be full everywhere because of the german match. I would like to suggest http://www.viehhof-ki... it´s a beergarden, 5 minute walk from U-Bahn Poccistraße. Open till 1
