Let's go hiking this Saturday! The trail starts at Geitau (which is a few stops after Schliersee, where we went a few weeks ago), passes over Wendelstein, and ends in Bayrischzell. The difficulty of the trail should be moderate. It is 12km long with an ascent and descent of approximately 1.2km each.
We can take the BOB train from the Hauptbahnhof to Geitau, then from Bayrischzell back to the Hauptbahnhof. The train departs from platform 34 at 9:05am, so please arrive at least twenty minutes beforehand so that we can organize tickets. Five people are able to share a ticket, which costs 27 EUR, so the cost is 5,40 EUR per person.

There are a number of nice looking restaurants in Bayrischzell that we can visit after our hike.
For those that are interested, there are two possibilities for shortening the hike. The first possibility is to not hike to the top of Wendelstein. This will save you approximately 1km in distance and 100m in both ascent and descent. The second possibility is to take the cable car that runs up and down the mountain (http://www.wendelsteinbahn.de/bergbahnen/international/englisch.php). Although the cable car is not free, this would cut the trip in half roughly.
