Welcome to the Murder & Tea Book Club!
A Bit About Us
We are a group of mystery lovers who meet monthly to read...well, no duh.
However, on-line we appear to possess 200+ members, but in reality we only have about 8-12 members who show up to meetings. Most members do enjoy a good mystery, but we have members who belong for primarily the social aspect...and that's ok.
What Can We Do For YOU?
A thorny question, indeed. As of March 2010, most members are willing to try an unknown author...if the price is right. The more mainstream the title, the lower the price, the better the turn-out. However, I'd like to turn that tide and start a series of meetings devoted to newcomers. As of 3/10, I'm still working on that plan. E-mail me at games.afoot (AT) gmail.com if you think your book (which must be in the mystery genre in same way) might appeal to those interested in newbies, unknowns, or soon-to-breakout.
If given a significant amount of lead time (say 30-60 days), we can promote your upcoming appearances at libraries, bookstores, etc. If you're in town and would like to a do a meet-and-greet, please let me know (again 30-60 days) and I'd be happy to arrange that. In previous meet-and-greet sessions, most members express curiosity about the publishing business, in general. Expect curious questions about writing, publishing, etc. and do not be discouraged if your book is rarely brought up (just being honest, here).
Now that we have our own Amazon store, we can feature you there...have no problem with that at all: http://astore.amazon....
I can probably do more for you: just ask. The worse thing that will happen is that I'll say no...I'll most likely say yes.
What can we NOT do for you?
The number one thing we cannot guarantee?
Selling 150 copies of your book.
I'm sorry, but it's true. We most likely will not sell 150 copies of your book...nor will we pay an entry fee to meet you. We do not have an affiliation with a bookstore, so I cannot directly sell your book, either. If you bring copies to a meet and greet, you are more than welcome to sell your book (and you will probably sell a few). But I cannot do that for you at a meeting.
That's pretty much all I cannot do for you.
I'm excited that you're published. I truly am. I'm always excited to hear about new authors. I really want to help and support you.
Contact me at games.afoot (at) gmail.com if I can assist you in any way.
