Book club discussion

OK, here we go!

This is our first official Book Club meeting for the Murfreesboro Freethinkers!

Our book choice for this first meeting will be Sam Harris' Letter to a Christian Nation.

It will take you less than half a day to read it.  As a little background, it was written as a response to criticism to his first book The End of Faith, so if you want a little more challenge, you could read that one too.

Come with questions, quips, queries, and quotes.  Also, bring a suggestion for the next meeting's title, and we'll decide together.  We'll try monthly, and Sunday late mornings seem to work best.

As always, believers are welcome, but there will be no holding back!

Miss everyone- hope you had (and are having) a happy and healthy holiday season!

Well, it's too late to reserve a room on campus, but 20 people will certainly overwhelm Starbucks. fwiw, there is a Starbucks in the library, but it doesn't open till 2 pm on Sundays.

Let's keep the location at Starbucks for now. If we find it too confining we can migrate to Mellow Mushroom

David and I are bringing a couple from Mt. Juliet, so we'll be 4 in number. Did we come to an alternate location option?

Phil - good question - any input from anyone?? I don't know that JoZoara will be any roomier, but I hate using a campus room with no coffee (notice my priorities). I don't even mind using the house, but we don't have much more room here.

    Thoughts, heathens?

Gayle, with the number attending, I don't see how the Starbucks is going to work. If you like, I could get us a room on campus. Or else, I'd suggest JoZoara's.

Is it still going to be about "Sex and God"?

ok, guys, I'm back! Thank you for all your comments. I'm really excited about this. I will create an event for this late in December, but let's shoot for Sunday, January 20, at 10am at the Starbucks on Rutherford. We'll start gently, and you've got scads of time to get and read this short, exquisite book: Letter to a Christian Nation, by Sam Harris. (We'll get back to the book I mentioned originally, I promise!)

Continue to comment in the comment section; I'm going to post this on the Nashville Meet-up page as well. In the meantime, hope to see you at the Bonfire on Saturday the 8th!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
