Hi, My name is Keely. I have a daughter that is 5 and was diagnosed with ASD at the age of 3. Katie is high functioning, but still faces challenges and has overcome a lot of obstacles. This group is for children ages 3-8 who live in the murrieta/menifee and temecula area that have been diagnosed with ASD. We all faces our own challenges when it comes to raising our kids. I know sometimes I have to leave certain public places because my daughter has auditory and some visual sensory disorders; mostly places that are loud. Also, my daughter has a phobia of public potties, so our outings would be short like 1-2 hours and then over time, for longer periods once my daughter can go in all public potties.. Sometimes outsiders just don't understand. We often have more worry and concern when it comes to our children. I would like to meet moms that I can relate to and have the chance for my daughter to meet some new friends as well:) I like places like Littlefields, and going to the Park. I am a easy going mom and just want to meet other moms that I can talk to and have play dates. Now that it is summer, would love to have some fun with our kiddos. Also, open to any good suggestions of places to meet that are kid friendly and places that understand that your child may be different. We are often busy and I know what its is like when you have therapies and school. My daughter is currently in ABA therapy and speech therapy. She is in Kindergarten and thriving academically, but has troubles with the social parts of language, but loves to be around and interact with kids. Meet-ups would mostly likely be in the afternoons and now that school is coming to an end, in the mornings as well.. Looking forward to meeting some new faces and friends:) Also, down the road, would like to have a moms night out. As much as we love our children, we do need a break from everything related to Autism sometimes to keep our sanity:) A glass of wine every now and then is much needed:)
A FEW NEW UPDATES; my daughter is almost potty trained in almost all public potties(except for some park potties that are gross anyway..lol), this all happened within the last 2 months!!! So proud, so looks like down the road can plan for longer meet-ups without having to worry about my daughter having to go potty:)
also, noticed that a lot of organizers want to you to attend at least 1-2 meeting a month, well, I don't demand that at all:) If our case, since we have really busy schedules I am super easy going..Life gets hectic when your running around from one therapy session to another...whether its occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, and ABA it can be a lot, especially if you have more than one child. I totally understand. I want this to be stress free, friendly group:) Just try to do Meetups whenever you can:) And at this point, don't require any fees or anything, unless the group gets really big down the road?
