Hike Musconetcong Gorge- Wildflower and Native Plant Hike

  • May 24, 2014 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Come out and hike the beautiful Musconetcong Gorge. This preserve, part of the Hunterdon County Park System encompasses 425 acres and has trails that are sometimes steep and rocky with views of a scenic waterfall. We will be led by experienced birder and fern and wildflower expert, John DeMarrais, as we look for wildflowers, native plants, and birds; so be sure to bring your binoculars. The trails range from moderate to slightly difficult, and take advantage of the smoothest grounds but are steep in some areas. Don't forget to pack a light snack and bring a water bottle.

MWA members are free, non members are asked to donate $3. Please call (908)[masked] or email [masked] to register.

What a great experience! Totally peeked my desire to learn bird calls and, of course, more about both my fellow hikers and the Musky. Look forward to when our paths cross again. Thank you so very much for organizing this fine time!

Can you tell me how long the hike might last, approx? I have to work in the afternoon, but would love to attend.

I thought I saw that this hike was kid friendly. Would you say so?

I'm sorry to cancel but have become overloaded with work and have to stay in and work tomorrow. I am hoping my space can go to someone who is able to make it!

Is there a waiting list for this event? Can I join if someone decide not to go..?

From what I recall, there is not a huge parking area at this park. Will the lot accommodate a group this large? Is there another lot that I don't know about?

Sorry, we have closed the RSVPs at the request of our guide. We already have quite a large group since others have signed up through the MWA. We'll try to schedule more hikes here later in the year!

Sue, As Woody Allen (and others before him) noted, 80% of life is just showing up. This may be a challenging hike - steep, some rocks - so it would be best to be accompanied. Like scuba diving with a buddy. But it is a great trail into a piece of park land that is worth the trip.

Hi. Can I go on a wait list, if there is one? I'd love to do this hike. Thanks!

This is wonderfully close to home. What's your policy on well-behaved pooches?

Hi R.J. our general dog policy is that well socialized, leashed dogs are welcome as long as they are allowed at the venue!

This is one of my favorite places to hike!

John DeMarrais is an experienced birder and wildflower and fern expert. This is a beautiful site to hike in May!
