New York Public Library-Stephen A. Schwarzman Building Tours

Please arrive at 11:45 a.m. The tour will begin right at noon and we cannot keep the docent waiting. We will meet at 11:45 in Astor Hall. I will probably arrive even earlier for those of you that arrive around 11:30.   I booked a private tour with the Library which is going to start at noon on Saturday, January 25th, 2014.

Below are some details from the website:

Docent-led tours are an excellent way to see highlights of The New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. The Library offers tours of the building as well as exhibitions. Free docent-guided tours for walk-in visitors are available.

- Building tours are one hour in length
- When you arrive the day of the tour, please note the cost below. I will collect money from everyone and give it to the docent as a group. ADDITIONALLY, EVERYONE WILL NEED TO CONTRIBUTE $1.00 WHICH GOES TO ME FOR KEEPING THE COST OF THE WEBSITE AND MEETUP GROUP GOING.

Group tour fees:
$10 per person ($7 for seniors); no charge for full-time students. Educators are free with proper ID. I will collect the money from everyone and place all the collected money in an envelope. Students are also free of charge. Call[masked] for reservations and further information.

Please make sure that you have exact change including the additional dollar which will be collected at the start of the tour. For those that want to do lunch we can go as a group after the conclusion of the tour. I think this should be a good time.

I really enjoyed the tour today and meeting everyone. I ended up leaving a little early (lingering cough, in hindsight should have skipped the run this morning) but the library is a fantastic place and I will definitely be back. This seems like a great group, and I look forward to seeing what our next exploration will be.

I don't know if anyone else is going the same way, but I'll be taking the 9:45 train from Fanwood (Union County) on the Raritan Valley Line, arriving in New York Penn Station at 10:41--and then taking a leisurely walk up the Library. (Well, if its very cold, maybe a brisk walk!)

Little concerned about the weather (snow) so thought it better if a NYer with less of a commute gets the spot. Have fun!
