Grand Central Terminal- Private Tour

******The tour will start promptly at 2:30 p.m outside Terminal 29. Please plan on arriving a few minutes early to meet the docent.

******* Additionally, if you wish to join our group for lunch before the tour, please plan on arriving to Le Pain Quotidien, Bryant Park, 70 West 40th Street at 12:30 p.m. If you plan on attending lunch, please let me know in an email so I can know about how many individuals to look for.

I have arranged for a private tour of Grand Central Station. The tour will begin at 2:30 P.M on Saturday, April 12th, 2014. Many members have suggested this as an event and I think it will be a good one. However, there is a cap of 25 people that are allowed to attend one tour.

I must make a group payment in advance for this event. Therefore, if you plan on attending this event, you must pay me no later than Friday, March 21st, 2014. I strongly recommend that you pay me via Venmo. Venmo is an application that you can download on your IPhone for free. If you do not have an IPhone you can also access this feature on the regular old internet from home. Once on Venmo you can search for me- John Ciferni. My picture should be the same as my meetup profile. Additionally, it might ask you for my phone number which is[masked] and email at [masked]. If you would rather send me payment (check) via mail you can mail me at 799 Mountain Avenue Unit B, Springfield, NJ, 07081. If you mail a check please send me a personal email letting me know so that I can keep my eye out for it. If I don't obtain payment by the date above you will be bumped from the meetup and I will take the next person off the waitlist. Cost: $19.00 which includes the meetup dollar that I normally collect at each event plus the fee that I must pay for the private tour. This is a standard rate which is the price for everyone attending the event.

The tour will last about 75 minutes in length and once I get the exact location within the terminal in which we will meet, I will post it to the meetup website. Once I know how many people are attending the event, we can arrange to go to lunch before hand for those wishing to attend. For those of you who attended the meetup at the New York Public Library, I was thinking we could go to the same place for lunch. Below is additional information regarding Grand Central Terminal.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Thank you,

wow- I just saw this… too short notice or I would take a spot John.
    Look forward to next one!

Hi all, I'm unfortunately suffering from a sinus infection and won't be in shape to attend. Would anyone on the wait-list or who isn't going like to go in my place? If yes, let me know and you can just show up and pay John so that I will get a refund. Thanks, Hope you all have a great time.

    April 11, 2014

    • John C.

Cheryl if you want it the spot is yours. Three paid members had to cancel and I am not sure the replacements are going to show being it's last minute. If you have time to get to Grand Central terminal 29 for the tour at 2:30 then the spot is yours.

Count me in for lunch too. See ya tomorrow.

    April 11, 2014

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make this. My car is having issues that have to get fixed ASAP, so I have to take it to the shop tomorrow. :(

I'm sorry for the late notice. I hope someone will be able to take my place. I was really looking forward to this, but maybe I can make the next one! Have fun!

So incredibly bummed but as of yesterday will be out of town for the weekend

I'm probably getting on in Millburn. I'll be in the front car.

      Maybe a mini-group meeting?

      March 6, 2014

    • Amy

Hi all! Actually I love taking the train into the city, so I will do that. If you would like to meet up at the Maplewood station, that would be great too!

I am definitely in fir the pre-lunch part. There is a Le Pain Quotidien very close to Grand Central in 3rd Avenue at 43rd Street.

    March 5, 2014

    • John C.

This is closer than the one before?

      March 6, 2014

    • Elizabeth

Yes, but it is a little smaller. Maybe, we should return to the other one instead.

      March 6, 2014

  • Nancy

Hey John...I was second on the wait list this past weekend and now I'm on the bottom of the list?? Any clue what happened? So bummed

    March 6, 2014

    • John C.

I don't think the order listed is the correct order. Meetup knows who joins based on the time your replied.

      March 6, 2014

    • Kim H.

I actually tried to sign up when this first posted but couldn't there was some problem with the meet up server. Should we go ahead and pay if we are on the wait list? Incase some one cancels at the last minute?

      March 6, 2014

  • Judy S.

Do you want to travel together? Where do you park on a Saturday?

    March 6, 2014

    • Anne

or anyone coming from near Westfield -- the unnumbered parking spots in the north and south station lots are free. Lots of parking, particularly on the south side. The station is on the Raritan Valley Line, with regular hourly weekend service. If anyone would like to meet to take the same train in, please let me know.

Completely off-subject, I was at the opening reception for the new Norman Rockwell exhibit at the Newark Museum earlier this week. I highly recommend a visit to see this remarkable collection of some of his most iconic art. The exhibit is at the Museum through May 26. About a 20-25 minute walk from Newark Penn. Parking onsite.
