Lower East Side Tenement Museum Private Tour

Many of our members have mentioned immigration museums as a good option for a future meetup. Therefore, I have arranged for a one hour private tour of the Tenement Museum. We will take the "Hard Times Tour" which will last one hour in length. Below is a description of the tour as outlined on the website :http://www.tenement.org/tours.php.

Discover how immigrants survived economic depressions at 97 Orchard Street
between 1863 and 1935. Visit the restored homes of the German-Jewish Gumpertz
family, whose patriarch disappeared during the Panic of 1873, and the
Italian-Catholic Baldizzi family, who lived through the Great Depression.

Important information about this meetup:

Event Date: Sunday, June 1st, 10-11 am

Members may choose to walk the area after the tour and grab brunch in the Lower East Side.

1. Since I am making the booking for the entire group on my credit card, payment is due no later that Sunday, May 4th, 2014. Money is ONLY REFUNDABLE BEFORE May 4th, 2014. After this date, I can try to get you your money back if you cancel as long as someone on the waiting list replaces you. If you one is able to replace you then your payment is NON REFUNDABLE.

2. Payment in advance can be made in one of two ways: Using the website- Venmo.com. This will allow you to make payments and have the money deducted from your account and transfered to me like a Pay Pal account.  Or you may choose to write a check and send it to me by mail. If you do this please give me a heads up so that I can look for your check in the mail. You can send to:

John Ciferni

799 Mountain Avenue Unit B

Springfield,  New Jersey 07081

3. The cost for the meetup is $15.00 (14.00 for the tour and 1.00 meetup fee which goes towards the cost of keeping the group running).

If you have any questions please contact me either through email on the meetup site or my phone number is[masked]-6466.

Thanks,

John

Hi John, I am so disappointed, but I will no longer be able to attend because it is promotion Sunday at my church. I planned on getting a sub for my Sunday school class, not realizing it was the last class before summer break. I hope to make one of your meet ups in the near future.

Sounds fascinating but travelling to New York on a Sunday from Jersey is beyond my scope. Any other day would be great. Sorry to be missing out on this one. Will wait for the next one. With tears, Rita

I can't believe I am on a wait list. I just saw this meetup. I love the Tenement Museum. Is there away to take more people?

    1 · April 14, 2014

    • John C.

You might also get in as people cancel. Maybe you want to wait till after 5/4 when payments are due to me. If people don't pay I start pulling people off the waiting list. If you don't make it off at that point perhaps call the museum then.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
