14th Annual Egg Rolls & Egg Creams Street Festival &Tour of Eldridge Synagogue

In light of today's meetup at the LESTM I can across the following and thought it might be fun. This is not the typical meetup but below is the description of the event. The Eldridge Street Synagogue is quite the historic establishment and they are sponsering the following street fair. I don't know what to expect but I think the event should be fun. Although the event is free, you need to register online and they will send you a ticket to your email. I suggest preregistration just in case. I am not sure if the synagogue will be offering tours but I think we should be able to get inside. We can plan on meeting outside the Museum at Eldridge Street at noon. Description:
Experience the eggs-traordinary! Chinese opera and acrobatics, klezmer music, Yiddish and Chinese language lessons, mah jongg, scribal arts, food and folk art demos, crafts, synagogue tours, and more! Don’t miss New York City’s best block party, a cross-cultural celebration of the Jewish and Chinese communities of our Lower East Side/Chinatown neighborhood. Free

Sponsored, in part, by the National Endowment for the Arts, NYC Councilwoman Margaret Chin, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, NYC & Co. Foundation, and the New York State Council on the Arts. Seltzer donated by BK Seltzer Boys.

Article on the Synagogue in the NYT, perhaps inspired by the Festival: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/...

It was fun to learn a little more about New York and hang out with all of you. I really enjoyed viewing the architectural details of the synagogue as you'll see from the photos that I'll be posting some photos shortly.
I look forward to seeing you again.
    Cheers,

The synagogue was amazing. My friends and I went down the block for dumplings which took a while then they had to head out and I went on to do some shopping at REI for some camping equipment I need. Thank you John. If it weren't for you, I would never have seen or known about this event and the museum and building. I took video of the Manhattan Klezmer when they were in the street and will try to post it later. Then will post link to it. :)

I have meant to see this synagogue for some time and this meetup gave me the opportunity to see it. It is very impressive. I enjoyed the talk, the Chinese music and the Cantor. Thank you John for arranging this.

Yet again, I have to cancel - I hate doing this, and this event looks like so much fun - it's really up my alley- but something has just come up and I have to pass. Sorry everyone.

Judy, I will take either the bus or the train to this event. I do not typically drive to the city.

How do we get there? Do we come individually by public transportation?

Sounds like another great happening, but alas will be up in Vermont helping to try and set a Guinness Book of World Records' for the longest contra dance line. Catch y'all at another time.
