OVERVIEW

Julia Fischer

Hailed as “one of the great violinists of the 21st century” (BBC Music Magazine) and praised for her “comprehensive musicianship and instrumental mastery” (New York Times), the fiery virtuoso Julia Fischer joins Franz Welser-Möst and The Cleveland Orchestra for a weekend devoted to the music of Brahms.

MUSIC THIS AFTERNOON

BRAHMS  Tragic Overture
BRAHMS  Violin Concerto
BRAHMS  Symphony No. 4

Johannes Brahms stands among the greatest composers of classical music, as illustrated by his inclusion among the “Three Bs” triumvirate of Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms.  From lighthearted humor to serious introspection, from bittersweet joy to exuberant happiness, you won’t want to miss this weekend's performances featuring his great Violin Concerto paired with his pastoral Second Symphony (Thursday and Friday) or the masterful Fourth Symphony (Saturday and Sunday).

Pre-Concert Information

* Parking

A variety of parking options are available for concerts at Severance Hall, including guaranteed pre-paid parking passes (purchased through the Ticket Office or via this website).

CAMPUS CENTER GARAGE - The Case Western Reserve University Campus Center Garage is located directly adjacent to Severance Hall (parking entrance is off East Boulevard), with stair and elevator access to Severance Hall.  Event parking in the Campus Center Garage can be purchased for $11 per vehicle when space permits. However, the garage often fills up well before concert time and only patrons who purchase pre-paid parking passes are ensured a parking space.

Pre-Paid Parking for the Campus Center Garage can be purchased in advance for $15 per concert by calling the Ticket Office or through this website.  Pre-paid parking guarantees you a space, but availability of pre-paid parking passes is limited.

HOW TO BUY PARKING - If you are purchasing your tickets via the website (CLICK HERE) , there is an opportunity after you have put seats into the checkout cart when you can select the “Find Parking” button.

Alternatively, if you have already purchased tickets, you can purchase pre-paid parking online through the concert Event Calendar.  Above the calendar, check the box “for ticket holders who wish to purchase tickets only” under Select a Type of Event.  The calendar will then show available parking.

Parking can also be purchased through the Ticket Office by calling [masked]-1111.

Limited additional event parking is available in the Case Western Reserve University Lot 1 off Euclid Avenue across from Severance Hall, or at the University Circle Lot 13A on Adelbert Road, and at the Cleveland Botanical Garden parking garage on East Boulevard.  Space at these lots may be particularly limited during weekday daytime hours.  Some on-street parking is also available, but often fills up well before curtain time.

The concert was outstanding, especially the stirring performance of the Brahms violin concerto by Julia Fischer. The food at Washington Place Bistro was excellent. Thanks, Bill, for organizing this meet-up. As usual, you pick the very best concerts and restaurants.

Looking forward to finally making a Meetup with this group. I need to make some changes to my season subscription prior to concert so will most likely see you at Box Office prior to concert.

Dinner RSVPs are closed but you may RSVP for the concert and purchase tickets right up to showtime. We may have some dinner seats available so see me before or at intermission.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
